Senior Midfielder, Siena Stambolich, recorded a goal and two assists to give the Golden Flashes a big 3-2 win over Central Michigan Sunday afternoon.

Kent State (6-5-2, 3-3-1 MAC) stop a two-game skid against Mid-American Conference foes while the Chippewas (4-6-4, 2-4-1 MAC) have now dropped back-to-back games in conference opponents.

The Flashes got on the board in the second minute of the game when Stambolich took a corner kick that found the head of Kelsey Salopek at the back post. The goal is Salopek's second of the year and ties her total from the 2023 campaign.

The Chippewas would answer back 10 minutes later with an outside the box strike from Jaylyn Dobrowolski. The game would stay level going into the halftime break, Kent State held the lead in shots on goal three to one.

Much like the first half the Flashes got on the board quickly in the second 45 minutes. Kent State regained possession in the midfield with Stambolich who played a beautiful long through ball to up to Jules Dolinski who cut inside at the top of the box, danced around the defender, and curled it around the keeper.

Kent State would make it three in the 62nd minute when they were awarded a penalty for a handball in the box. The Flashes gave it to the senior, Stambolich, who put it to the goalkeeper's left and into the back of the net.

The Chippewas tried to mount a comeback scoring a goal in the 79th minute, but the Flashes defense held their own and closed out the game 3-2.

In the box score the Flashes lead in shots (12-9), shots on goal (7-2) and corner kick opportunities (5-4). Dolinski lead the Flashes in shots and shots on goal with four and three respectively. Goalkeeper Heidi Marshall made one huge save to keep the Flashes in the lead.

The Ohio soccer team (9-1-4, 4-0-3 MAC) traveled to Muncie, Ind. on Sunday (Oct. 13) to face Mid-American Conference rival Ball State (5-7-2, 2-2-3 MAC), securing a 2-1 victory.

Ohio outshot Ball State 17-8, placing six shots on target compared to Ball State's two.

Junior goalkeeper Celeste Sloma (Columbus, Ohio) played the full 90 minutes, making two saves, while the Bobcats earned four corner kicks.

Individually, sophomore Jaimason Brooker (Powell, Ohio) led the Bobcats with three shots on goal, converting two into goals with one assist from sophomore Anna Burchett (Prestonburg, Ky.). Junior Ella Deevers (Streetsboro, Ohio), junior Maia Kaufman (Westerville, Ohio), and graduate student Aubrey Rea (Akron, Ohio) each recorded one shot on goal for Ohio.

In the first half against the Cardinals, Ohio set an early rhythm, with Rea making the first attempt on goal, however it was saved by Ball State goalkeeper, Grace Konopatzki. In the 12th minute, Ball State struck first, taking a 1-0 lead.

At halftime, the Bobcats outshot Ball State 6-4, with Ohio managing one shot on goal.

The second half began with both teams battling fiercely, exchanging possession and opportunities. Ohio found its chance in the 57th minute when Brooker scored, assisted by Burchett, leveling the score at 1-1. Then, in the 70th minute, Brooker netted her second goal of the game, giving the Bobcats a 2-1 lead. Both teams continued to battle over the remaining 30 minutes, with the Ohio defense holding stong and securing the 2-1 victory.

TOLEDO, Ohio –
The Toledo women's soccer team broke through for two second-half goals in a 2-0 Mid-American Conference victory over Miami at Paul Hotmer Field on Sunday.
 
The Rockets (5-6-3, 2-3-2 MAC, 8 Pts.) got goals from senior Olivia Dault in the 70th minute and an insurance tally from junior Brooklyn Whitehead in the 81st minute. Toledo held Miami (5-4-5, 1-3-3, 6 Pts.) to just three shots on goal to record the shutout.
 
Dault scored her second goal of the season and Whitehead her first. Senior Chloe Tadolini finished with an assist on Dault's goal, her fourth of the season, while Grace Turski assisted Whitehead's goal for her third helper of the season. Junior Agnes Stenlund made two saves to finish with her sixth shutout of the year.
 
"That was a super gritty effort from the group," said Head Coach Mark Batman. "Conditions were a bit tough, and everyone had to be effective with the rain. We had two key free-kick moments. Olivia Dault releasing from pressure on the first goal was great for her, and Brooklyn Whitehead was in the right place at the right time on her score. The second goal made things way easier for the last 10 minutes."
