BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — C.J. Ogbonna accounted for three touchdowns and Al-Jay Henderson ran for 142 yards and Buffalo dominated Toledo in a 30-15 win on Saturday.
Victor Snow ran it in from the 2 to end an eight-play, 81-yard drive to put Buffalo up 7-0 for the only score of the first half. The Bulls (4-2, 2-0 MAC) came out of intermission and made it a two-score lead when Ogbonna completed a two-yard touchdown to Jake Orlando.
Later, following a Toledo fumble deep in its own territory that Buffalo recovered at the Rockets’ 2, Ogbonna ran it in on the first play for 21-0 advantage.
Toledo (4-2, 1-1 MAC) got on the board on its next drive when John Alan Richter threw a 26-yard touchdown to Jerjuan Newton. Buffalo countered on its ensuing drive when Ogbonna ran it in from the 1 at the end of a nine-play, 49-yard drive.
Richeter threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns, both to Newton, who had 159 yards
Buffalo has won four of its last five meetings with Toledo.
The last time the Bulls started the season 3-0 at home was 2020. 2013 was the only other season the Bulls started 3-0 at home as an FBS program (1999).
Ball State 37, Kent State 35

KENT, Ohio (AP) — Braedon Sloan ran for two touchdowns and Vaughn Pemberton added a late clincher as Ball State defeated Kent State 37-35 on Saturday.
The Cardinals (2-4, 1-2 MAC) seemed to have the game wrapped up when Jackson Courville kicked his third field goal with just over three minutes to go and again when Pemberton burst through the right side with 1:13 left for a 37-28 lead.
But the Golden Flashes (0-6, 0-2 MAC) followed the field goal with a 10-play, 62-yard drive, finished by Tommy Ulatowski’s third touchdown pass, an 18-yarder to Luke Floriea with 1:28 to play.
The Golden Flashes had a successful onside kick negated by an early blocking foul and the Cardinals recovered the next attempt before Pemberton’s long TD run.
Chrishon McCray turned a short pass into a dazzling 57-yard run with 30 seconds left.
Ball State got the ensuing onside kick to clinch it.
Kadin Semonza threw for 215 yards and a touchdown for Ball State, which ended a four-game losing streak. Sloan had 76 yards on the ground and Pemberton 52.
Ulatowski was 17-of-36 passing for a career-high 394 yards with an interception and McCray had eight catches for three scores and a career-best 213 yards and Florie six for 130. Both receivers eclipsed 1,000 yards for their careers.
Miami 38, Eastern Michigan 14

YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) — Brett Gabbert threw four touchdown passes, Miami scored 17 points in the fourth quarter, and the RedHawks defeated Eastern Michigan 38-14 on Saturday.
Miami (2-4, 1-1 MAC) led 21-14 in the final period before putting the game away with Gabbert’s 24-yard TD pass to Cole Weaver, a 44-yard field goal by Dom Dzioban and Jordan Brunson’s 44-yard touchdown run. The three drives totaled 191 yards of offense, nearly half of Miami’s 421 yards for the game with only 16 first downs.
Gabbert was 10-of-13 passing for 222 yards, averaging 17 yards per attempt and 22 yards per completion.
Miami’s Keyon Mozee ran for 100 yards and Reggie Virgil caught three passes for 113 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown on the first play of the game.
The Miami defense was led by Eli Blakey with 18 tackles, eight solo; and Corban Hondru with 16 and five.
Northern Illinois 17, Bowling Green 7

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Quarterback Josh Holst ran for a touchdown and Gavin Williams ran for 102 yards and Northern Illinois beat Bowling Green 17-7 on Saturday.
Trailing 7-6 entering the fourth quarter, Holst ran for a 26-yard touchdown 7 seconds into the quarter. The two-point conversion was successful when Grayson Barnes completed a pass to Isaac Hatfield.
Kanon Woodill made it a two-score game when made a 27-yard field goal with 6 minutes left. Earlier, Woodill made kicks of 46 and 21 yards.
Northern Illinois (4-2, 2-0 MAC) has won two straight following consecutive defeats after its historic 16-14 win over Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.
Bowling Green (2-4, 1-1 MAC) led 7-3 when Connor Bazelak threw an 11-yard scoring pass to Harold Fannin Jr. with 6:55 left in the first quarter.
With the win, Northern Illinois evened the all-time series record at 12-12.
Ohio 27, Central Michigan 25

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — Quarterback Parker Navarro accounted for 323 yards and two touchdowns and Ohio held off Central Michigan for a 27-25 win on Saturday.
The Bobcats (4-2. 2-0 MAC) took a 3-0 lead on Gianni Spetic’s 35-yard field goal on the opening drive. Navarro’s 8-yard scoring run made it 10-0 in the second quarter. Navarro threw a 5-yard touchdown to Coleman Owen, and after a three-and-out, Duncan Brune ran it in from the 4 for a 24-0 lead.
Central Michigan (3-3, 1-1 MAC) reduced the deficit to 24-8 when Marion Lukes ran it in from the 3 and Tyler Jefferson threw to Lukes for the two-point conversion with 8:19 left in the third.
Tristan Mattson made a 37-yard field goal to start the fourth and Lukes ran it in from the 4 following Donte Kent’s 70-yard punt return to reduce the deficit to 24-18.
Spetic made it a two-score game when he converted a 46-yard field goal with 5:17 left for 27-18 Ohio lead.

Lukes recorded a 28-yard scoring run and brought the Bobcats within 27-25 with 1:52 left. The Chippewas bypassed an on-side kick attempt and Ohio killed the clock in six plays picking up two first downs.
Western Michigan 34, Akron 24

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) — Hayden Wolff threw two touchdown passes and Western Michigan held off Akron after a five-hour weather delay for a 34-24 victory on Saturday night.
Wolff threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Kaevion Mack to give Western Michigan a 31-24 lead with 4:02 remaining in the third quarter before the game was stopped due to thunder and lightning.
When the teams returned, Luka Zurak kicked a 20-yard field goal for Western Michigan with 11:28 left in the game, and Akron’s Garrison Smith missed a 34-yard attempt with 1:02 remaining.
Wolff was 17-of-25 passing for 191 yards. He also threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Kenneth Womack in the second quarter. Jalen Buckley added 103 yards rushing on seven carries for Western Michigan (3-3, 2-0 MAC).
Ben Finley completed 24 of 36 passes for 395 yards for Akron (1-6, 0-3 MAC). Adrian Norton had eight catches for 168 yards. Jordon Simmons scored on a 4-yard run to cap the Zips’ 11-play, 77-yard drive that tied it at 24. Simmons finished with 63 yards rushing and made six catches for 97 yards.
Smith’s 38-yard field goal and Tahj Bullock’s pair of short-yardage touchdown runs gave Akron a 17-0 lead early in the second quarter, but Western Michigan led 24-17 at halftime.
Akron outgained Western Michigan 501-387 but turned the ball over four times.
