Toledo's Tofte Nielsen Named Men's Golfer of the Week

Sophomore Jamie Tofte Nielsen carded the best two rounds of his Rocket career en route to tying for 21st place with a two-under par 214 at Washington's Husky Invitational. The tournament field included 10 schools that were ranked in the Top 100 of Golfstat's final rankings. Nielsen opened the tourney with a career-best even-par 72 before firing a three-under par 69 in his final round. He was at five-under par through 13 holes in his final round before registering a double-bogey and bogey. Nielsen finished the tournament with 13 birdies.

True freshman Kash Bellar had a record breaking weekend at the Cardinals annual home even the Earl Yestingsmeier Invite. Bellar competed as an individual in the 54-hole event which was held at the Delaware Country Club. On Friday, Bellar shot a 62 (-8) in the morning round and was tied for first after he set a tournament and course record. He also set a school record for single round with a 62 and tied the relative to par record at -8. Bellar birdied eight holes in the morning during his historic round. He started the second round on fire with a birdie and an eagle. He added another birdie on the back nine and finished with a 72 (+2). In the final round, Bellar notched three birdies on his way to a 73 (+4). He produced a three-round total of 207 (-3) as he tied for fourth. He tallied 13 birdies, which were a team high, and added an eagle.
