Perese and Washburn Named Field Hockey Players of the Week

MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Isabelle Perese, Miami
GK, Junior, Worthington, Ohio
 
Isabelle Perese continued her great play over the weekend as she tallied a total of 17 saves over the weekend in two games. Against Appalachian State, Perese stopped both goals that were on target to earn a clean sheet in a 1-0 victory. Perese recorded a career-high 15 saves against North Carolina while making many of the spectacular variety.  

MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Sydney Washburn, Kent State University     
Forward, Junior, Apalachin, N.Y. (Vestal)     
 
Junior forward Sydney Washburn was clutch in Kent State’s 3-2 double overtime win against Ohio. Washburn helped the Flashes take control early scoring in the first period. She would later score her second goal of the match netting a game winner for the Flashes in double overtime. Washburn finished the game with a 100% shot-on-goal percentage getting all three of her shots on target. 

Rio Weber, Longwood            
Defense, Senior, Fredericksburg, Va. (Riverbend)    
 
Senior defender Rio Weber played 51 minutes of a 6-0 shutout over Bellarmine in the Lancers' 2021 MAC opener and helped limit the conference newcomer to just two shots, none of which were on goal. The shutout was Longwood's third of the season and dropped the Lancers' goals against average to a MAC-best 1.33 per game. 
 
Nele Graner, Ohio      
Goalkeeper, Senior, Bonn, Germany
 
Graner held strong in goal and did not allow a goal in the second or third quarters against #23 Kent State. Posted over a .700 save percentage in both games over the weekend.
 
Pauline Mangold, Appalachian State University      
Midfield, Junior, Hanover, Germany (Bismarck School)      
 
Pauline Mangold led App State’s defense over the weekend to allow just one goal by conference opponent Miami, and three goals by Davidson. Mangold recorded a defensive save against Davidson in the third period Sunday to hold App State’s lead, spawning an eventual 6-3 win for the Mountaineers. The midfielder poured in 112 total minutes over the weekend to help the Black & Gold secure a 1-1 split to improve its record to 3-4.
 
Clara Rodriguez Seto, Kent State University
Midfield, Fifth year, Barcelona, Spain (Agora Sant Cugat)
 
 Fifth year Clara Rodriguez Seto dominated the midfield as usual for Kent State in their 3-2 double overtime victory against Ohio. She not only came in big on the defensive end registering a defensive save but contributed on offense as well taking six shots and scoring one goal. 
 
Michaela Graney, Ball State  
Defense, Sophomore, Cape Town, South Africa (Reddam House Constantia)        
 
Michaela Graney – a key of Ball State’s defensive stinginess throughout the game, holding Central Michigan corner-less and shot-less for three quarters. Graney was important in sealing the victory with a goal and holding off Central Michigan's strong offensive push in the fourth quarter. 
 
Maroussia Walckiers, Longwood       
Midfield/Forward, Freshman, Kraainem, Belgium (Sint-Jan-Berchmans College)
 
Longwood freshman Maroussia Walckiers scored her first career goal in impressive fashion during a 6-0 rout of MAC newcomer Bellarmine, working a give-and-go that started just short of midfield and finishing it off with a backhanded finish from the top of the arc. The goal extended Longwood's lead to 2-0 in the second half and sparked an offensive onslaught that became the Lancers' highest-scoring game of the season.
 
Bodhi Littlefield, Ohio            
Midfielder, Freshman, Oakland, Maine        
 
Littlefield helped Ohio force overtime against #23 Kent State with the second goal of her career on her only shot of the game. She also kept up offensive pressure with two shots on goal and an assist against St. Francis on Sunday.
 
Charlotte Bosma, Appalachian State University      
Forward, Freshman, Wassenaar, The Netherlands  
 
Charlotte Bosma led the Mountaineers to a 1-1 split over the weekend while scoring the first two goals of her career. Both of her goals in App State’s 6-3 win over Davidson were unassisted drives that sparked a scoring run for the Black & Gold in the first half. Through the two games against Miami and Davidson, Bosma had six shots on goal out of seven shots. She played 75 total minutes over the weekend to improve App State’s record to 3-4.
 
Lexi Kansky, Ball State           
Forward, Junior, Vista, Calif. (Rancho Buena) 
 
Lexi Kansky scored her first career goal against the Chippewas of Central Michigan on Friday. She led Ball State's attacking efforts by helping win corners and menacing the Central Michigan defense. Kansky's presence on the field did not go unnoticed. Kansky's goal early in the third quarter of action put Ball State on the board first which eventually led to the Cardinals victory over CMU.

Morgan Sturm, Miami University     
Midfielder, Senior, Roanoke, VA       
 
Morgan Sturm tallied the only goal in Miami's 1-0 victory against App State to help the RedHawks earn their first conference victory of the season. Sturm also scored a goal on Sunday against UNC and tallied five shots combined in two games over the weekend. Four of which were shots on goal as Sturm did an incredible job of helping to fuel the offense over the weekend for the RedHawks.
