Three All-Americans Highlight Second Day of NCAA Championships

Eugene, Oregon -- A trio of MAC athletes earned All-American honors during the second day of the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Eugene, Oregon. 

Toledo Senior Stephanie Sherman ran the race of her life in the 10,000m at the NCAA Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. on Thursday, earning second-team All-America honors in the process. Sherman ran a personal-best time of 33:25.31 to take 16th place, which earned her the final spot as a second-team All-American.

Sherman shattered her previous best time of 34:08.86 in  the 10K, which she ran two weeks ago at the NCAA East Regional Championships, and set a school record in the process. Carmela Cardama Baez of Oregon won the race with a PR of 32:16.13

Bowling Green State University's Kaila Butler closed out the 2021 outdoor track and field season with an All-American performance.

Butler finished ninth in the hammer throw at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on Thursday (June 10), and was named a second-team All-American for the second time in her career.

 Central Michigan's Quiara Wheeler finished 22nd in the hammer throw on Thursday to earn All-America Honorable Mention at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field.
 
The best throw for Wheeler, a junior from Flint, measured 62.64 meters (205 feet, 6 inches). It came on her third attempt after she fouled on her first two.
