Kent State Finishes 5th At Regionals; Adavances to NCAA Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio- 
The No. 15 Kent State women's golf team has qualified for the 2021 NCAA National Championship after finishing the NCAA Columbus Regional tied for fifth place at  885 (+21).

Kent State entered the final round in fourth place but held its own after a hard-fought day to claim the fifth spot after posting a final round score of 296 (+8).

The Flashes join tournament champions No. 18 Georgia, No. 2 Duke, No.7 Arizona State, No. 37 Kentucky, and No. 26 Michigan. This will be the Flashes eighth National Championship appearance as a team.

Caley McGinty led the Flashes with a 215 (-1) score and finished tied for second. McGinty posted 72 (E) after going 17 holes for par or better with a birdie.

Chloe Salort finished tied for 17th at 221 (+5) after she fired a round of 75 (+3). Emily Price finished the final round with a 74 (+2) with two birdies and posted a 54-hole total of 223 (+7).

Kory Nielsen finished tied for 55th with a 230 (+14) after she finished the final rund with a 75 (+3). Mayka Hoogeboom rounded out the lineup with a 234 (+18) and tied for 73rd after she fired an 80 (+8).

Kent State will make its eighth NCAA Championship appearance. The 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship begins Friday, May 21 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
