Western Michigan, Akron Sweep Women's Soccer Player of the Week Honors

East Division Offensive Player of the Week
Carly Pcholinsky, Akron, MF
Junior, South Park, Pa. 
Akron junior Carly Pcholinsky helped spark Akron to a 2-0 home triumph past Ohio on Sunday, April 4 at FirstEnergy Stadium. She registered a career- and game-high five shots for the Zips, including equaling a career-best three shots on goal. Pcholinsky registered a flurry of back-to-back-to-back shots on goal in the 84th minute before pushing the ball over the line off an assist from Sydney Worthy at the 83:52 mark for her first goal of the season.
 
East Division Defensive Player of the Week
Vanessa Berlin, Akron, GK          
Sophomore, Gau-Oderheim, Germany
Sophomore GK Vanessa Berlin helped spark Akron to a 2-0 home triumph past Ohio on Sunday, April 4 recording a career-high eight saves in net for the Zips to post her first collegiate solo shutout. Five of her eight saves came in the second half.
 
West Division Offensive Player of the Week
Morgan Otteson, Western Michigan, Forward   
Junior, Grand Rapids, Mich. (Northview)             
Otteson helped the Broncos snap a four-game winless streak and go 2-0 on the week after picking up the primary assist on every goal WMU scored in its wins over NIU and Ball State. Against the Huskies she connected twice with Bailey Korhorn, setting up a goal in each half to put the Broncos up 2-0. Both assists came as crosses from the right flank to Korhorn in the middle of the box. In Sunday's win against the Cardinals she headed a corner kick to Emily Dahl, who poked it in from point-blank range to give WMU an early 1-0 lead. Later in the second half she headed down a free kick to the feet of Hannah Redoute, who put it in the net to put the Broncos up 2-0. The win over Ball State was WMU's first since 2015.

Emily Dahl, Western Michigan, CB          
Junior, Avon, Ohio (Avon)           
Dahl helped the Broncos snap a four-game winless streak and go 2-0 on the week. In WMU's 2-1 win over Northern Illinois she helped limit the Huskies' chances as the Broncos built a 2-0 lead and then helped the back line keep the lead during a late push by NIU. In Sunday's win she helped the back line earn a shutout against the MAC West leading Cardinals. She scored her first collegiate goal, the game-winner, go put the Broncos up 1-0 in the first half. She then provided the service on a set piece for WMU's second goal that sealed the win, picking up an assist on the goal that made it 2-0. The win over Ball State was WMU's first since 2015.
