TOLEDO, Ohio – Nikki Sorgi's two-out, two-run single in the top of the ninth inning lifted the Bowling Green State University softball team to a 5-3 win over the University of Toledo on Tuesday afternoon (April 20). The game, the opener of a Mid-American Conference doubleheader, was held at a snowy Scott Park.
The second game was halted in the fourth inning due to deteriorating field conditions. The Rockets held a 6-1 lead in that contest, which will be completed on a date to be determined.
Madi McCoy and Sarah Gonzalez each had two hits for the Falcons (18-18, 10-11 MAC) in the opener, while Sophie Weber homered and Sorgi had the ninth-inning single, a walk, a sacrifice bunt and two RBI, including the game-winning RBI.
In the nightcap, Gonzalez homered for BGSU's lone run through the first four innings.

KENT, Ohio – Junior Megan Turner smashed a pair of home runs while sophomore Gabbie Sherman and freshman Jessica LeBeau were terrific in the circle, as Kent State split an afternoon doubleheader with Buffalo at the Diamond at Dix.
The Golden Flashes (13-18, 9-8 MAC) dropped the first game of the day, 2-1, and came back to win the nightcap by a score of 10-3.
Turner led the offense with three hits and five RBIs. Junior Sabrina Kerschner also had three hits on the day, and freshman Emily Lippe delivered a key three-run single in the nightcap.
Sherman and LeBeau both tossed complete games, combining for 14 strikeouts to four walks and allowing just two earned runs.

OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University softball team saw its 20-game win streak come to an end on Tuesday, but remains in first place in the Mid-American Conference Standings following a dramatic come-from-behind win in game two versus Ball State. Miami moves to 27-7 overall and 17-1 in MAC play, while Ball State sits at 22-11, 16-1 MAC.
After dropping game one 4-2 to the Cardinals, and trailing 7-2 in the seventh inning of the night cap, Miami scored six runs in the bottom half of the inning, highlighted by a grand slam walk-off from Lily Wilmot to secure the victory.

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio softball team (16-15, 12-10 MAC) dominated in their doubleheader against Akron (3-29, 2-16 MAC) Tuesday afternoon (April 20) at the Ohio Softball Field. Ohio took game one 9-1 in five innings and took game by the final of 7-1.
"Morale is going to be high after two wins like today," third-year head coach Kenzie Roark said. "Everyone came with a lot of excitement today and put up a lot of runs. So it was a fun time today. Both pitchers came to play and looked really good. They attacked the strike zone and trusted their stuff."
