MAC Men's Soccer Co-Player of the Week
Brennan Creek, Western Michigan
Midfield, Sophomore, Kalamazoo, Mich. (Hackett Catholic)
Creek was crucial to WMU's success over the final week of the regular season. In Wednesday's midfield he helped stifle Akron's attack leading to the team's third shutout on the season. Creek assisted on WMU's third goal, giving the Broncos a 3-0 lead, and then scored the game-winner in Sunday's historic win over the Zip. His goal came in the second half after Akron had cut WMU's lead to 3-2. The four goals were the most ever scored against the Zips by the Broncos and it was the program's fifth win over Akron in program history.
Logan Kowalczyk, Bowling Green
Goalkeeper, Sophomore, Pinckney, Mich. (Gahanna [Ohio] Lincoln)
Bowling Green’s Logan Kowalczyk had a GAA of just 0.43 in two matches last week, helping the Falcons clinch the MAC championship with a win and a tie. Kowalczyk allowed just one goal in nearly 209 minutes of action as BGSU battled West Virginia to a 0-0 draw before beating Northern Illinois, 2-1 in overtime. He made a career-high six saves vs. WVU on Wednesday, then tied that mark with six more stops vs. the Huskies. On the season, Kowalczyk now has a GAA of 0.70. In MAC matches, he went 5-2-1 with a GAA of just 0.59, a saves percentage of .808 and five shutouts, the program’s highest total in conference play since 1998. BGSU is returning to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 1997, and the MAC crown is BG’s first outright conference regular-season title since 1996.
