BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- On a tough scoring day in challenging weather conditions, the Ball State women's golf team stormed to the top at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational.

BSU started the day in second place, seven shots behind tournament host Bowling Green, and finished it with a 10-stroke victory over the Falcons and Akron.

The Cardinals beat out seven MAC teams and 14 teams total for this weekend's victory at Stone Ridge Golf Club. They will roll into the MAC Championships in two weeks with momentum.

Ball State placed three golfers in the top 5 on the final leaderboard for the 36-hole event. Hadley Moritz (+4), finished third for her second top-10 of the season, and Liz Kim (+6) and Kiah Parrott (+6) tied for fifth.

It was the best career finish for Moritz and the freshman Parrott and the best career finish in a full-field event for Kim.

Kim led the Cardinals with a 2-over-par 74 on Sunday, a day in which the average score for the field was higher than 80 for a second straight day. BSU also counted a pair of 76's from Moritz and Morgan Lewis and a 78 from Parrott in the final round.

Akron's Jenn David finished as the individual medalist at even-par after posting the only under-par round of the final day.

The tournament victory was the first of the season for Ball State and the first for the team since last year's Cardinal Classic in September 2019.

The Cardinals will look to build on the performance when they head to the MAC Championships, April 23-24 at Silver Lake Country Club in northeast Ohio.
