Day 2 Results
OXFORD, Ohio -- The Miami University men's swimming and diving team is in first place with 629 points in the five-team field after two days of competition at the 2021 Mid-American Conference Championships held on home turf at the Miami Aquatics Center.
Henju Duvenhage carried his success from day one to day two of the meet. The freshman won the 400 individual medley (3:48.03). Teammate and fellow rookie Owen Blazer made his debut in individual events, winning the 100 backstroke (47.68) and placing second in the 100 butterfly (48.20).
Ryan Sego was the winner of the 100 butterfly behind Blazer and Nic Wamsley, winning in a time of 47.92.
Like day one, the relay events were key for the RedHawks as Miami won the 200 medley relay. Blazer, Noah Barr, Duvenhage, and Ben Chatwin finished in a time of 1:25.91. Uroš Djokovic, Gordon Wheeler, Chatwin, and Wamsley took the runner-up title in the 800 freestyle relay, finishing in 6:31.30.
The Missouri State men's swimming team had an individual win courtesy of Pawel Krawczyk (200 freestyle) and an 800 freestyle relay win on Friday night in Oxford, Ohio, at day two of the Mid-American Conference Championships.
Krawczyk picked up his second gold medal of the championships by winning the 200-yard freestyle finals with an impressive time of 1:36.20. Arthur Curry followed Krawczyk, finishing second in 1:36.52 while Jonathan Hill finished eighth (1:40.77).
The gold was Krawczyk's second of his career in the 200 freestyle at the MAC Championships, having won his first in 2019.
Ball State freshman Joey Garberick made sure the second day of the 2021 MAC Championships was a memorable one for not only himself, but his teammates as well by taking home the event title in the 100 breaststroke. He became the first champion for Ball State since the 2006 season.
In the final event of the night, Missouri State had a thrilling comeback finish in the 800 free relay as Dylan Moffatt, Krawczyk, Jonathan Hill and Arthur Cury swam a combined 6:30.21 to win the event.
