Kent State's Senderoff Named As Finalist For Skip Prosser Man of Year Award

KENT, OHIO- Kent State head men's basketball coach Rob Senderoff has been named a finalist for the Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award as announced by College Insider.

The Award goes to the coach who has success on the court and displays moral integrity off of the court. The honor bears the name of former Loyola (MD), Xavier and Wake Forest head coach Skip Prosser who passed away in 2007.

Senderoff has guided the Golden Flashes to a 15-7 overall record and a 12-6 mark in the Mid-American Conference. The Golden Flashes will be the four-seed in the upcoming MAC Tournament this weekend in Cleveland.

Off the court, Coach Senderoff and his men's basketball program have been a part of several social initiatives.  In the pre-season, Coach Senderoff partnered with Akron Head Coach John Groce to produce a message that promoted voter registration entitled Rivals Unite for Social Change. The two rival programs also joined together for the "This Game is No Secret" and ERascism movement through the National Basketball Coaches of America. The programs pushed the movement during their nationally televised game on ESPNU.

"It is an honor to be selected as a finalist for this award with such outstanding coaches," Senderoff said. "I certainly appreciate the recognition and I am excited for our team to continue to compete for a MAC Championship in Cleveland."

Coach has also been an advocate for Team IMPACT, a national nonprofit headquartered in Boston that connects children facing serious or chronic illnesses with college athletic teams. His program signed Malyk Foster last year and has continued a relationship with Malyk over the last two seasons.

Senderoff and the Golden Flashes will take on Ohio University in the quarterfinals of the MAC Tournament on Thursday afternoon. The winner of the Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award will be announced on April 1st.
