Chayce McDermott tied his career-high with 13 strikeouts and did it without walking a batter in a seven-inning, complete game victory in game two of the Cardinals’ weekend series against Toledo. He fanned nine consecutive Toledo batters at one point, marking the second time this season he has recorded nine straight outs via strikeout. He previously did it at Kentucky. McDermott allowed a solo home run in the first inning and then shut Toledo out the rest of the way in Ball State’s 7-1 victory. Through two MAC starts, he is 2-0 with 24 strikeouts in 12.0 innings of work. He helped the Cardinals to their second straight series win to open league play.

Sophomore catcher Macey Moore hit an impressive .833 and registered a 1.333 slugging percentage to lead Toledo to a pair of 10-2 victories at Buffalo on Saturday in a four-game series shortened due to inclement weather. Moore was 3-for-3 in Saturday's opener, including a home run that tied the game at 1-1 in the second. She then singled and scored in the third as part of a two-run rally that gave UT a 3-1 lead. In the second game, Moore was 2-for-3.
