Toledo, Ohio - University of Toledo senior Marreon Jackson has been named to the Lou Henson All-America Team and a finalist for the Lou Henson Award. Jackson is the fourth Rocket to be named to the Lou Henson squad, joining former standouts Julius Brown (2014, 2015), Nathan Boothe (2016) and Tre'Shaun Fletcher (2018).
Jackson became the second Rocket in the last four years to earn Mid-American Conference Player of the Year this past season in addition to being a first-team All-MAC selection. The Cleveland, Ohio native was instrumental in Toledo posting a 21-9 record and capturing a MAC championship crown with a 15-4 league win-loss mark.
A 6-foot-1, 200-pound guard, Jackson ranked fourth in the MAC with 18.4 ppg, first with a 91.4 free-throw percentage and third with 6.0 apg and 1.9 spg. He became the first Rocket to register two triple-doubles in school history, tallying 18 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds vs. Miami (Feb. 16) and 22 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists vs. Ball State (March 5).
Lou Henson coached 41 years and is the all-time wins leader at both Illinois and New Mexico State. When Henson left the game in 2005, he ranked sixth all-time in career Division I wins with 779 and is the winningest coach at both Illinois and New Mexico State. He is one of only 12 coaches in the history of the game to take two schools to the Final Four.
The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the nation's top Division I mid-major player and will be announced on April 2 in San Antonio, the site of the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship.
