Bobcats Set To Take On Creigton in NCAA Second Round

INDIANAPOLIS -- The No. 13 Ohio men's basketball team (17-7) is back in action in the NCAA Second Round on Monday, March 22 when the Bobcats take on No. 5 Creighton (21-8). Tip-off is set for 6:10 p.m. ET inside Hinkle Filedhouse. Monday's game can be seen on TNT where Ian Eagle, Grant Hill and Jamie Erdahl will be on the call. 

The Bobcats enter the matchup with Virginia with a 17-7 record after defeating No. 4 Virginia, 62-58 Saturday night (March 20) in the NCAA First Round. With the win, the Bobcats are now 8-13 all-time in the NCAA Tourrnament. The Bobcats' last trip to the NCAA Tournament happened in 2012, where Ohio defeated Michigan and USF to make it to the Sweet 16, before falling to No.1 seed North Carolina. Ohio has won three-straight NCAA First Round games (2010, 2012, 2021). 

Overall, the Bobcats are averaging 80.1 points per game, while shooting 48.7 percent from the field, 35.9 percent from three-point range and 70.8 percent from the free throw line. The Bobcats also average 35.0 rebounds a game to go along with 17.7 assists, 6.5 steals and 2.1 blocks per game. 

Meanwhile, opponents are averaging 72.6 points per game, while shooting 48.7 percent from the field, 33.5 percent from three-point range and 76.2 percent from the free throw line. Opponents also average 33.4 rebounds, 13.8 assists, 5.6 steals and 2.6 blocks per game. 

Individually, Jason Preston leads Ohio with 16.3 points per game, while shooting 53.2 percent from the field, 40.5 percent from three-point range and 60.5 percent from the free throw line. He also adds 7.2 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game. 

Dwight Wilson III is next with 14.6 points and 7.5 rebounds a contest, while shooting 65.6 percent from the field. Ben Vander Plas is next, averaging 13.0 points per game, while shooting 44.2 percent from the field, 78.4 percent from the free throw line and adds 5.6 rebounds a game. 

Creighton enters the matchup with Ohio with a 21-8 record. The Bluejays are coming off a 63-62 victory over No. 12 UCSB on Saturday.
