Cleveland, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team led 19-15 after one quarter and never trailed after that, defeating Buffalo 80-67 to return to the Mid-American Conference Championship Game for the first time since 2011. Elissa Brett had 20 points and 13 rebounds to help the top-seeded Falcons defeat the defending MAC Tournament champion Bulls.
Bowling Green made 14-of-29 three-pointers and connected on at least three from long range in each quarter. Madisen Parker made four of those three-pointers on just six attempts off the bench for a total of 12 points. MAC Freshman of the Year Lexi Fleming added 16 points, four rebounds, four assists and five steals. Kadie Hempfling had 11 points, five rebounds and five assists in the victory.
Along with her offensive effort, Brett took on the primary defensive role against Buffalo star Dyaisha Fair. Fair was 7-of-26 shooting and ended with 20 points.
Bowling Green will play in the MAC Championship game Saturday at 11 am against the winner of today's other MAC semifinal game -- No. 2 seeded Central Michigan vs. No. 3 seeded Ohio.
