The Toledo men's basketball team (21-7, 15-4 MAC) faces No. 5 seed Ohio (14-7, 9-5 MAC) tonight in the 2021 Mid-American Conference Tournament semifinals. The contest will be televised on CBS Sports Network and tip off in Cleveland's Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse at 5:00 p.m. The top-seeded Rockets advanced to the semifinals yesterday with a 91-89 (OT) victory over No. 8 Ball State. Marreon Jackson tallied 29 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals and made a career-high 11-of-12 free throw attempts. JT Shumate added 16 points, Ryan Rollins scored seven of his 14 points in overtime, Setric Millner Jr. contributed 13 points and a team-high 12 rebounds, and Spencer Littleson had 12 points. Littleson hit four three-pointers in the contest and now has a school-record 100 triples, one more than Jackson's total of 99 last year.
he Ohio men's basketball team (14-7) makes in an appearance in the MAC Semifinals for the first time since 2017. The Bobcats got there by defeating No. 4 Kent State, 85-63, Thursday afternoon.
Junior guard Jason Preston (Orlando, Fla.) led the way with 19 points while being a perfect 8-of-8 from the field. He also grabbed four rebounds and dished out four assists. Sophomore guard Lunden McDay (Akron, Ohio) scored 18 points, going 6-of-9 from the field and 2-of-3 from three. Sophomore guard Miles Brown (Rochester, N.Y.) added 11 points, while senior Dwight Wilson III(Tallahassee, Fla.) recorded 10 points and nine boards, while redshirt junior Ben Vander Plas (Ripon, Wis.) also added 10 points.

The University at Buffalo men's basketball never trailed in a 74-63 win over Miami (OH) in the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament at Cleveland's Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Thursday. The Bulls knocked down a season-high 12 three-pointers in the game, shooting 60 percent from beyond the arc. Ronaldo Segu tied a career high with five three-pointers and Jeenathan Williams also connected on a career-best five triples. Both players were 5-of-6 from deep. Segu finished with 16 points and Williams had 20. While the Bulls were successful from the perimeter, Josh Mballa was a force in the paint. The junior forward had 23 points and 19 rebounds, both game highs. The MAC Defensive Player of the Year added two steals and a block in the game.
The Akron Zips defeated No. 6 Bowling Green in the quarterfinal round of the 2021 Mid-American Conference Tournament and will lineup against the No. 2 seed, Buffalo on Friday night at approximately 7 p.m. at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio. Friday's game marks the 68th meeting in series history between Akron and Buffalo, and 18th meeting for a Groce coached squad, ninth at Akron. Akron holds an all-time 35-32 series advantage while Groce is 6-11 overall and 1-7 at Akron. In three of those five setbacks, the Zips led at halftime and took a one possession game to the final minutes. The Zips and the Bulls have met four times in postseason play with Buffalo holding a 3-1 edge. Akron is 31-19 all-time in the MAC Tournament, 23-8 in its last 31 tournament games. The Zips have won at least one game in the MAC Tournament every year since the 2004-05 season and has advanced to the MAC Tournament title game in nine consecutive seasons with an unprecedented 13-of-14 semifinal appearances.
