Trenton, N.J. – After day one of the 2021 MAC Wrestling Championships, eight-time defending MAC Champion Missouri has posted an early lead as the Tigers have 161.5 team points for first place, along with eight wrestlers that will be competing in Championship matches on Saturday afternoon.
Missouri entered the MAC Wrestling Championships as the No. 5 ranked team in the nation with a 10-0 overall record, including 4-0 within the MAC. Missouri Sophomore Noah Surtin (125), Redshirt junior Matt Schmitt (133), Junior Brock Mauller (149), Junior Jarrett Jacques (157), Freshman Keegan O'Toole (165), Redshirt sophomore Peyton Mocco (174), Redshirt sophomore Jeremiah Kent (184) and Freshman Rocky Elam (197) will represent the Tigers in the Championship Finals.
Rider's Richie Koehler (133), McKenzie Bell (141), Jesse Dellavecchia (157) and Ethan Laird (285) each advanced to the finals at their respective weight classes for the host Broncos.
The 2021 MAC Wrestling Championships conclude on Saturday, February 27 beginning at Noon ET from Cure Insurance Arena. Saturday's schedule begins with consolation quarterfinals at Noon ET and consolation semifinals at 1 PM ET, followed by the Championship Finals at 2:30 pm ET (ESPN+).
