Brindtha Ramasamy captured a three set win at No. 1 singles last Friday over Xavier. The junior dropped set one 2-6 and rebounded with a 6-1, 6-1 win in sets two and three.
Women's Doubles Team of the Week

Livia Lukacs, Ball State, Junior, Pecs, Hungary
The Ball State twosome of Mariya Polishchuk and Livia Lukacs paired up for the top court in doubles play Saturday at Youngstown State. The BSU doubles tandem captured a 6-1 victory over the Penguins’ Elvira Esteo and Cecilia Rosas. Polishchuk and Lukacs win claimed the doubles point for BSU. The duo helped the Cardinals to improve their overall record to 4-2 while also extended BSU’s win streak to four.

The duo of Guadiana Tjon-A-Joe went 2-0 on the week in doubles play. Wednesday, in their first time being teamed up in doubles, won at No. 1 against Wayne State's Lara Cazacu and Linda Liong, 6-4. On Saturday they paired up again and won 6-1 against Kansas City's Michela Xibilia and Yana Grechkina at No. 1.
Julia Piatek, Eastern Michigan, R-Sophomore, Melgiew, Poland Isabelle Popma, Eastern Michigan, R-Freshman, Staphorst, Netherlands
Piatek and Popma partnered at Wayne State, Feb. 21, for the first time this season and helped deliver the crucial doubles point. The duo competed out of the No. 2 spot, finishing a hard fought match 7-6.
Cassie Alcala, Toledo, Freshman, Pickerington, Ohio
Laura Morera, Toledo, Sophomore, Valencia, Spain
Freshman Cassie Alcala and sophomore Laura Morera were victorious in doubles play on Friday at Youngstown State, winning on the No. 3 court, 6-4. This was the first time the duo played together this season and they were the only Rocket doubles pairing to claim a win on Friday. Alcala and Morera also both won their singles matches as well.
Emma-Lou Pommiers, Eastern Michigan
Redshirt freshman, Aire-sur-I'Adour
Pommiers earned a win at Wayne State, Feb. 21, to move to 4-2 overall in the 2021 season. The redshirt freshman has played strictly out of the No. 5 spot, as she put away her opponent in Detroit in straight-sets, 6-3, 6-1.
Ana Guadiana, Western Michigan
Freshman, Monterrey, Mexico
Guadiana became one of just two players on the roster to improve to 7-0 on the season in singles play. The freshman has played in every match this season and helped the Broncos to a win over Wayne State on Wednesday with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Melanie Zampardo at No. 2. On Saturday she played at No. 3 as the Broncos downed Kansas City, with Guadiana winning 6-1, 6-3.
Cassie Alcala, Toledo
Freshman, Pickerington, Ohio
Freshman Cassie Alcala won on the No. 2 court on Friday at Youngstown State, defeating her opponent 6-3, 6-1 to move to 2-0 when playing singles on court No. 2 this year. Alcala won last week on the second court, 6-1, 6-2, and the freshman opened the year for the Rockets playing on the No. 1 court at Notre Dame.
Jessica Braun, Ball State
Sophomore, Canton, Mich
Braun went 2-0 in singles action this past weekend for the Cardinals at Youngstown State. She competed on court No. 3 for both her competitions against the Penguins. She opened up the day with a straight set take down over Youngstown State’s Lucia Zagar by a score of 6-1, 6-1. Braun continued to be victorious against the Penguins Elvira Esteo in her second match helping Ball State to sweep the doubleheader at Youngstown State (4-1) and (4-0). For the weekend, Braun only gave up a total of five games in two matches she also helped BSU improve to 4-2 on the season along with extending the Cardinals win streak for four. Braun is now 4-1 in singles action this season at the No. 3 spot.
