Central Michigan Sweeps Player of the Week Honors

MAC Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week | 2.23.21
Offensive Player of the Week
Audrey Whiteside, Central Michigan
Sophomore Audrey Whiteside, in just her second career start, was a difference maker for Central Michigan in its 11-10 season-opening win over BIG EAST foe Marquette. Whiteside totaled a career-high five points on the day, scoring a game-best four goals and adding an assist. She broke a 2-2 tie with back-to-back goals in the first half. Her third goal would come just two seconds before halftime, pulling the Chippewas to within one of the Golden Eagles at 6-5 heading into the break. Her assist on a Maggie Diebold goal early in the second half, capped off a 3-0 CMU run that put the Chippewas ahead for good. Whiteside's final goal was highlight-reel worthy, as she split a wedge of three MU defenders and rifled a shot into net. Whiteside also pitched in three draw controls, one ground ball and one caused turnover.

Defensive Player of the Week
Sierra Savage, Central Michigan, GK
Sophomore goalkeeper Sierra Savage, making just her third career start, backstopped the Central Michigan defense in its season-opening 11-10 win over Marquette. Playing all 60 minutes in net for the Chippewas, Savage totaled eight saves, including six in the second half, helping CMU rally from a 1-goal halftime deficit to secure the victory. Savage also recorded four ground balls and a caused turnover.
