KENT, Ohio - Senior Danny Pippen reached 1,000 career points and led all scorers with 34 points to lead the Kent State men's basketball team (8-4, 5-3 MAC) to a 96-91 victory over Bowling Green on Wednesday night at the M.A.C. Center.

Pippen tied his career-high with 34 points on shooting 11-of-15 from the floor and knocking down 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. Pippen also notched his fourth double-double on the season with 11 rebounds.

Senior Michael Nuga had 16 points, nine rebounds, and two assists. Sophomore Giovanni Santiago and senior Tervell Beckrounded out the double-figure scoring with 14 and 11 points.

After trailing 43-41 at the break, the Flashes opened the second half with a 6-0 run to take a 47-43. For every run Kent State went on, the Falcons would charge back keeping the game no more than a two-possession affair. Bowling Green answered back and took a 55-53 lead with 16:09 to go, but that would be the only time the Falcons would hold a lead in the second half.

The Falcons pulled within one point, 84-83 with 3:38 left to play, but Kent State closed the contest on a 12-8 run from knocking down-long range jumpers that secured the 96-91 victory. Both Pippen and Santiago were perfect from 3-point range in the second half as Pippen finished 4-of-4 and Santiago, 3-of-3.

Kent State shot 48.5 percent from the floor and 46.4 percent from beyond the arc while holding Bowling Green 35.7 percent from long range. The Flashes made 13 three-pointers in the game and outrebounded Bowling Green, 37-35.

The Flashes return to action Saturday, Jan. 30 as Kent State will host Central Michigan at the M.A.C. Center. Tip time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
