MAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week | 1.25.21
Dae Dae Grant, Miami, Guard
Sophomore, Lorain, Ohio (Lorain)
Grant had a monster week to propel Miami to a trio of wins over a five-day stretch and catapult the RedHawks in to fourth place in the MAC standings. Grant averaged 21.3 ppg, while shooting a sizzling 57.9 percent from the field and a scorching 63.2 percent from 3-point range and 88.9 percent from the free-throw line. Grant knocked down 12 of the RedHawks’ 27 triples on the week, accounting for 44.4 percent of the RedHawks’ 3-point shooting for the week. His scoring prowess lifted Miami to three straight 80+ point scoring efforts for the first time since the 1997-98 season, a 96-point scoring effort against Bowling Green (the most points against a Division I opponent since 2002), and repeated bests for scoring in a first half and also scoring in a half. Grant poured in a career-high 28 points off 10-of-15 shooting from the field (.667), including 6-of-7 (.857) from 3-point range at Eastern Michigan as the RedHawks picked up their first road win of the season. Grant established career-highs in field goals and treys against the Eagles, numbers he set in Miami’s previous game against Bowling Green. He hauled in six rebounds and added two assists against the Eagles. Against Bowling Green, Grant scored a then-career-high of 27 points off 9-of-16 (.563) from the field, including 5-of-9 (.556) from 3-point range. He also dished out five assists and snagged three steals against the Falcons. He started off the week with a nine-point effort against Ball State where he shot 42.9 percent from the field. He added two assists and grabbed two steals as part of a Miami effort that forced 18 BSU turnovers.
