Buffalo's Patterson, Kent State's Trickett Earn Preseason All-America Honors

Full Release: 2020 Preseason All-America Teams

New Haven, Conn. -- Buffalo junior running back Jaret Patterson and Kent State junior place kicker Matthew Trickett have been named preseason All-Americans by the Walter Camp Football Foundation. Both Patterson & Trickett earned Second Team All-America honors. In all, 33 different schools from eight conferences are represented on the Preseason All-America First and Second Teams (a total of 50 players selected).

Entering his junior season, Patterson is coming off a record-breaking campaign for the Bulls. He rushed for a single-season school record 1,799 yards and scored 19 rushing touchdowns, also a school record in 2019. An All-MAC First Team selection, Patterson led the Mid-American and ranked fifth in the nation in rushing last season. He was named the Walter Camp National Player of the Week after rushing for a single-game school record 298 yards and a MAC-record six touchdowns against Bowling Green on November 29. He rushed for 490 yards and 10 touchdowns over the final two games of the regular season.

Trickett enjoyed a stellar sophomore season for the Golden Flashes, earning the Mid-American Conference's Special Teams Player of the Year. The rising junior connected on 29-of-34 field goals on the season, a mark that tied him for the top spot in the FBS.  The Cleveland native did not shy away from the big moment, connecting on both of his "walk-off" field goal chances and was 5-for-5 in the bowl win over Utah State. Away from the place kicking, Trickett had 28 touchbacks on kick-offs in 2019 and recovered his own on-sides kick against Buffalo.

Walter Camp, considered the "Father of American Football," first named an All-American team in 1889. The 2020 season will be the 131st edition of the team. In late November, the 2020 All-America teams will be selected by the head coaches and sports information directors of the 130 Football Bowl Subdivision schools and will be certified by Marcum's New Haven-based accounting firm.
