Missouri State Takes Control After Day 2

Day 2 Results

CARBONDALE, Illinois - The Missouri State Bears takes control of first place as the second day of the 2020 MAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championships comes to an end. 
 
MSU finished the day with 322 points through seven events. Miami follows close behind in second with 260 points while SIU remains in third with 218 points.
 
The Missouri State Bears swept the podium in the first event of the night. 
Pawel Krawczyk defended his title in the 500-yard freestyle, touching in 4:20.49. His teammates, Antonio Thomas and Sebastian Odent followed respectively in 4:21.02 and 4:24.88.

The Bears found themselves on top of the podium again in the 200-yard IM with Arthur Cury placing first after clocking a 1:47.56. SIU's Adam Cernek finished second in 1:47.62 and Missouri State's Thomas Heye rounded out the top three with a 1:49.71 finish.
 
Miami took the top two spots in the 50-yard freestyle. Cole Grosshans posted a pool record 19.82 to take first and Nick Ward tapped in 20.39 for the silver medal. Samuel Senn of Missouri State completed the top three with a 20.49.
 
In the 1 meter dive, Southern Illinois Senior Kai Hoffmann-Dussome topped the leaderboard with a score of 306.80, claiming gold for the host team. 
 
The Miami RedHawks closed out the evening by claiming the 200 Freestyle Relay title. The team of Nick Ward, Nic Wamsley, Ben Chatwin, and Cole Grosshans touched the wall in 1:20.04. Missouri State posted a 1:20.97 for second and Ball State clocked a 1:21.97 for a third-place finish.
 
Prelims beginning tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. for the 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 100 Breaststroke, and 100 Back. In the evening, finals start at 6:30 p.m. and include the 400 Medley Relay. Follow results of both sessions through Meet Mobile.
