INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track & Field and Cross Country Committee announced the participants for the 2020 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Tuesday.
The Mid-American Conference saw eight stuent-athletes selected to compete at the national meet.
Akron leads the conference, with three selections; Lucy Bryan in the pole vault, Demetriius Jackson in the 200m, and Noah Williams in the 400m.
Central Michigan received two nods; Logan Targgart for the weight throw and Nadia Williams in the long jump.
Buffalo (Shevaughn Allen, triple jump), Kent State (TJ Lawson, heptathlon), and Toledo (Petronela Simiuc, mile) each garnered one tab.

The 2020 NCAA Championships run March 13-14 at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Alburquerque, New Mexico and will be broadcast on ESPN3.
Lucy Bryan, Akron - Pole Vault
Bryan will be making her sixth NCAA Championship appearance in the women's pole vault after earning All-America accolades a year ago on the strength of a 10th-place effort at the 2019 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, where she eclipsed 13-7.75 (4.16m). A four-time first-team All-America honoree, she garnered first-team All-America honors at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a mark of 14-3.25 (4.35m) to finish fifth. Bryan will be seeded third in the event after registering a career-, school- and conference-record mark of 14-9.50 (4.51m) at the Akron Invitational (Feb. 8). Bryan culminated a stellar campaign capturing her fourth conference title with a league-meet record mark of 14-6.75 (4.44m) at Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 29, at the Stile Athletics Field House. She has gone undefeated against collegiate competition in 2020, including victories in seven meets. Bryan is ranked No. 3 in the NCAA in the pole vault, no other athlete in the MAC (men or women) is ranked higher nationally.
Demetrius Jackson, Akron - 200m
Jackson was selected as the MAC Most Valuable Performer and Freshman Track Performer of the Year following his record-setting weekend at the MAC Championships in which he captured league titles in the 60 and 200 meters, while Williams was named the MAC's Most Outstanding Track Performer after taking the crown in the men's 400 meters. Additionally, the duo ran the final two legs on the winning 4x400 relay, that also included sophomore Amir Willis (Cincinnati, Ohio) and freshman Zarik Brown (Dayton, Ohio), posting the second-fastest indoor MAC Championship time, 3:07.89, since 1996, just shy of MAC Championship indoor record of 3:07.58 set by Akron in 2016. Jackson captured the first of three league titles triumphing in the men's 60 meters with a time of 6.78. A day earlier, he registered the fifth-fastest time (6.74) in indoor program history in the preliminaries. In the men's 200 meters, Jackson posted a pair of school-record times on the weekend in the event finishing first in the finals in a school-record time of 20.75. He will be seeded ninth in the field.
Noah Williams, Akron - 400m
Williams established a school- and facility-record time of 46.13 in the finals of the 400 meters. He then placed second in the 200 meters in 20.89, the second-fastest time in Akron indoor program history and 22nd-best in NCAA this year. A day earlier, broke the school record for the 200 meters in the preliminary round with a time of 20.92. He will be seeded 14th in the competition. On the season, Williams broke Akron indoor record for the 400 meters three times, while Jackson twice set the standard in the men's 200 meters.
Shevaughn Allen, Buffalo - Triple Jump
The 2020 Mid-American Conference triple jump champion and First Team All-MAC honoree is undefeated this season in the event while breaking the school record twice this indoor season. Allen is the Bulls' first NCAA Indoor qualifier since Jon Jones and Mike Morgan both earned First Team All-American Honors in 2015 where Jones competed in shot put and Morgan competed in the heptathlon. The school record holder ranks 11th in the NCAA with a distance of 16.09 meters.
Logan Targgart, Central Michigan - Weight Throw
Targgart, a senior from Coldwater, has qualified for the indoor championships for the first time. He is coming off a MAC Championship title in the weight throw with a distance of 21.52m (70-07.25). His longest toss of the season came at the Meyo Invitational, measuring 21.92m (71-11.0). Targgart will be seeded 13th.
Nadia Williams, Central Michigan - Long Jump
Williams, a senior from Mount Horeb, Wis., finished sixth last season in the long jump, earning First Team All-America honors. She went on to earn Second Team All-America honors in the long jump during the outdoor season. Williams earned her third consecutive women's long jump title with a leap of 6.28m (20’ 7¼“) at the 2020 MAC Championships. Her longest jump of the season measured 6.43m (21' 1 1/4) at the GVSU Open.
TJ Lawson, Kent State - Heptathlon
In addition to owning the fourth-highest heptathlon score (5,885) in the NCAA, Lawson scored a MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships record 5,723 points over the weekend. His personal-best long jump of 24'-11" ranks 31st nationally and is the best by a MAC competitor. He ranks fifth in the conference with a top high jump clearance of 6'-7.5".
Petronela Simiuc, Toledo - Mile
Over the course of the indoor season, Simiuc broke Toledo's record in the mile and 800 meters twice each. On Jan. 24, Simiuc clocked a time of 4:38.40 in the mile at the John Thomas Terrier Classic in Boston, Mass., smashing the previous record of 4:39.81 set by Megan Wright in 2014. She later broke her own record with a time of 4:34.59 to place fifth at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Feb. 14, also in Boston, Mass. Simiuc closed out the regular season by breaking Toledo's 800-meter record at Michigan's Silverston Invitational on Feb. 21 with a time of 2:08.23, surpassing the previous record of 2:09.20, held by Janelle Noe. At the MAC Indoor Championships, Simiuc re-broke the 800m record, posting a time of 2:07.46 in the final to place first. At the MAC Indoor Championships in Akron, Ohio, Simiuc clinched gold in the 800m (2:07.46), mile (4:46.93), and distance medley relay (11:38.11). She was also named First Team All-MAC for her performances in all three of her events, helping the Rockets to a sixth-place team finish with 60.5 points.
