Wrestling Edged At Sacred Heart Sunday Afternoon, 18-17
FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Bloomsburg University wrestling team got off to a slow start on Sunday afternoon and was edged at Sacred Heart University, 18-17, in a non-conference dual. The Huskies dropped to 3-7 overall - 1-4 away from home - while the Pioneers improved to 7-3 on the season. Bloomsburg lost the first three bouts of the day, and four of the first five, as the Pioneers raced out to a 12-3 advantage through the first half of the dual. With the afternoon starting at 165 pounds, senior Kyle Murphy was the lone Huskies' grappler to earn a victory in the opening five matches as he defeated Robert Hetherman, 3-1, at 197 pounds for his third consecutive win. The senior snapped a 1-1 tie with the lone takedown of the match with less than 20 seconds left in the final period. Murphy improved to 9-12 on the year with the victory.

Wrestling Takes Down Virginia Military Institute, 37-11
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg University wrestling team snapped a three-match losing skid with an impressive 37-11 victory over visiting Virginia Military Institute on Friday night at the Nelson Field House. With the win, the Huskies improved to 3-6 overall while the Keydets dropped to 4-10 on the season. Bloomsburg used four bonus-point victories - three falls and a forfeit - and added three decisions and a major decision for the lopsided victory as the Huskies improved to 3-1 in the all-time series against VMI. Freshman Christian Gannone, redshirt freshman Josh Mason, and sophomore Aaron Coleman earned the pins while 11th-ranked redshirt senior Trevor Allard didn't need to break a sweat to improve to 18-1 on the season as he picked up the forfeit win to close out the night.

Buffalo:
Bulls Battle, But Fall at Central Michigan
MOUNT PLEASANT, MI – It was another close loss for the University at Buffalo wrestling team as the Bulls fell on the road at Central Michigan, 24-15. The dual was tied, 15-15, before the Chippewas won the final two matches to pull away for the victory. Trailing 6-0 in the dual, Derek Spann got the Bulls on the board with a 4-0 decision over Brock Bergelin at 133 lbs. The redshirt-junior improved to 13-2 overall and 7-1 in MAC duals with the win.

Pins By Stencel, Simon Key Chippewas' 5th-Straight Dual Victory
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan wrestling team won seven matches, two of them by pin in rolling to a 27-12 Mid-American Conference dual-meet victory over Kent State on Sunday at McGuirk Arena. The win was CMU's fifth straight and it lifted the Chippewas to 7-4 in duals. They finished 7-2 in league duals and are scheduled to close the regular season on Friday, Feb. 21 (7 p.m.) at home with a nonconference dual with Michigan State. CMU's pins came from Dresden Simon (141 pounds) and Matt Stencel (285).

Chippewa Wrestlers Run Win Streak To Four
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Bookend pins from Drew Hildebrandt and Matt Stencel keyed a 24-15 Mid-American Conference dual-meet win for the Central Michigan wrestling team over Buffalo on Friday at McGuirk Arena. It was the fourth straight win for the Chippewas, who improved to 6-4, 6-2 MAC. Buffalo is 7-9, 3-5. Both pins from Hildebrandt and Stencel came in the first period. Hildebrandt's win at 125 pounds gave the Chippewas a 6-0 lead, and Stencel's (285) clinched the dual.

Huskies Topple Vikings
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Cleveland State University wrestling team dropped a 24-6 dual to visiting Northern Illinois in Mid-American Conference action Friday evening inside Woodling Gymnasium. NIU did not claim any bonus-point wins but was able to run the table, with its lineup of six MAC ranked wrestlers, after losing two of the first three bouts. Redshirt senior Justin Patrick got one of the Vikings' wins in thrilling fashion. Trailing, 3-2, for nearly the entire third period, Patrick, after he had continued to push the pace for a sustained stretch, secured the winning takedown with fewer than five seconds left in the bout.

Edinboro:
Fighting Scots Ride Tech Falls from Pappas, Oliver for 28-18 Win over Davidson
EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro wrestling team picked up technical falls by Peter Pappas and Jacob Oliver to snap a three-match losing streak with a 28-18 win over Davidson on Saturday afternoon at McComb Fieldhouse. Edinboro improved to 10-8 overall while the Wildcats are now 3-9. The Fighting Scots would win seven of the ten bouts in the first-ever dual with Davidson, but with the Wildcats' three wins coming by fall, the Fighting Scots were forced to use a less-than-100 percent Oliver at 174 lbs. The redshirt sophomore sat out Thursday's match at Lock Haven due to an injury, but he came through with a 17-1 technical fall over Steve Newell to give Edinboro aa 19-12 lead.

Fighting Scots Win Four Bouts in 25-13 Loss at Lock Haven
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Edinboro would come away with four wins in its Mid-American Conference dual at Lock Haven on Thursday night, but the Bald Eagles won three by bonus points compared to one for the Fighting Scots. Edinboro would suffer a 25-13 loss, dropping to 9-8 overall and 3-5 in the MAC. Lock Haven improved to 7-5 and 3-2, respectively. The match would begin at heavyweight, and Edinboro would grab a 3-0 lead behind a dominating performance from Jon Spaulding. The junior improved to 22-7 with a 9-3 decision over Trey Hartsock. Spaulding registered three takedowns.

Madrigal Earns 11th TF, Hofstra Wins Match
Fairfax, Va.— The Hofstra Pride were relentless in the 40-5 defeat of the Patriots in a match today in the Recreation Athletic Complex. Mason (7-7, 2-4) suffered its worst defeat of the season. The Pride (8-5, 4-0 EIWA) won its fifth straight dual. The Pride opened the match with a fall at 157 pounds and never looked back. The match was tied at 2-2 in the second period before Hofstra's Holden Heller earned a fall at 4:15 against the Patriots' sophomore Kolby Ho. Holden's older brother Sage would get Hofstra's second fall at 174.

Patriots Fall To Navy
FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason wrestling team fell to Navy, 23-14, on Thursday night at the Recreation Athletic Complex in Fairfax, Va. With the match starting at 157 pounds, Mason sophomore Kolby Ho built a 4-2 lead over Navy junior Jack Stanton-Taddeo after the first period. Ho recorded two more takedowns in the second period to increase the lead to 8-4. In the third period, Ho notched his fifth takedown on the way to an 11-5 decision.

Byland's Pin Leads Flashes Against Chips
MT. PLEASANT, Mich. - Kade Byland earned a pin and Andrew McNally and Tim Rooney earned victories but Central Michigan prevailed 27-12 in a Sunday afternoon MAC dual. The teams started at 174 and McNally kept things rolling. The Uniontown native got a reversal and three takedowns in the first two periods and rolled to his 14th straight victory, a 12-6 victory by decision after getting the riding time bonus. McNally improved to a team-best 28-7 on the season.

Wrestling edged by Rider in MAC East clash
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University wrestling team (7-6, 3-3 MAC East) got off to another tremendous start, opening the dual with three straight bonus-point wins, but in the end visiting Rider University (9-2, 4-0 MAC East) rallied, and downed the Bald Eagles 20-17 in a MAC Eastern Division thriller. No. 15 Luke Werner, No. 28 DJ Fehlman and No. 20 Kyle Shoop ripped off three straight dominating wins to start the match.

Siegrist’s pin, bonus points power LHU past rival Edinboro
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University wrestling team (7-5, 3-2 MAC East) got off to another quick start and recorded key bonus points as the Bald Eagles proved too strong for visiting Edinboro University (9-8, 1-4 MAC East), and won the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Eastern Division dual, 25-13. No. 32 Jared Siegrist recorded a 33-second pin at 174, while No. 15 Luke Werner and No. 20 Kyle Shoop notched tech falls at 125 and 141, respectively. Overall, the Bald Eagles won six of 10 bouts in the big win over their longtime rivals. It marked LHU's second straight win over Edinboro in dual action.

No. 24 Mizzou Wrestling Sees Comeback Fall Short Against Fifth-Ranked ASU
COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 24 Mizzou Wrestling came up short against fifth-ranked Arizona State, 21-13, Sunday afternoon (Feb. 9) at the Hearnes Center. The Sun Devils had six wrestlers ranked in the top 11 of their respective weight classes and won five of those six bouts, despite great effort from many of the Tigers. The Tigers trailed, 18-3, before rallying to cut the lead to 18-13 heading into the final bout, but the hole was too deep to dig out of. Mizzou falls to 10-7 on the season while Arizona State improves to 12-1 on the year.

NIU Grapplers Dominant in Win at Ohio
ATHENS, Ohio – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team turned in a dominant performance as the Huskies posted a 31-6 victory at Ohio Sunday afternoon. The win was the first for NIU (11-4, 6-2) over the Bobcats since Jan. 18, 2008 and the Huskies' 11 wins this season are the most since the 2007-08 NIU wrestling team went 11-7. The Huskies won eight of the 10 bouts on the day, including four bonus point wins. Bryce West set the tone of the day when he posted a 20-6 tech. fall win over Trevor Giallonbardo at 125, and Caleb Brooks followed that up with a 6-4 win in overtime at 133.

Huskies Top Cleveland State, 24-6
CLEVELAND – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team rallied from an early deficit to post a 24-6 victory over Cleveland State at Woodling Gymnasium Friday night. The Huskies improve to 10-4 on the season and 5-2 in Mid-American Conference action. NIU's 10 wins are the most for the program since 2014-15 when NIU picked up its 10th win in the penultimate dual of the regular season. The Huskies have three more duals remaining this season. NIU fell behind 6-3 after dropping two of the first three bouts. However, McCoy Kent and Mason Kauffman won their matches at 149 and 157, respectively, with Kauffman winning his bout, 3-1, in overtime to put the Huskies up 9-6. NIU never looked back.

Ohio Wrestling Falls to Northern Illinois, South Dakota State
ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio wrestling team (6-8, 4-4 MAC) suffered a pair of setbacks at the Convocation Center this afternoon, falling to Mid-American Conference foe Northern Illinois (11-4, 6-2 MAC), 31-6, and non-conference opponent South Dakota State (10-5), 28-9. After the Huskies jumped out to an 8-0 lead to start the afternoon's first match, the Bobcats cut their deficit to two points as redshirt senior Shakur Laney (Canal Winchester, Ohio) notched a 9-5 win by decision over sophomore Anthony Gibson at 141 pounds and redshirt sophomore Alec Hagan (Eureka, Mo.) followed it up with a 6-3 win by decision over redshirt senior McCoy Kent at 149. Unfortunately, that's as close as Ohio got as Northern Illinois won the final six bouts to nail down the dual victory.

Monarchs Slay the Dragons, 25-11 on Monday Night
NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion wrestling team (7-9, 4-2 MAC) won seven out of 10 bouts, including five straight to open the match, and cruised to a 25-11 victory over Drexel (6-9, 2-5 EIWA) on Monday night at Chartway Arena. The Monarchs took an 18-0 lead into the halftime intermission after winning the first five bouts of the dual, two of which resulted in bonus points for the team. No. 14 Killian Cardinale kicked off the ODU victory with a 7-3 win by decision over Antonio Mininno. Cardinale earned five of his seven points in the second period alone, earning an escape point and two takedowns in the two-minute frame. The redshirt sophomore then rode Mininno the entire third period to gain the riding time advantage and the victory, his fifth in a row.

Wrestling Falls To Rutgers
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Three matches went into overtime, but the Rider University wrestling team fell to Garden State rival Rutgers University, Sunday night inside Alumni Gymnasium, 25-6. The loss snaps Rider's seven-match winning streak, dropping the Broncs to 10-3. The Scarlet Knights improve to 9-6. Rutgers opened the night claiming wins at 125, 133, 141 and 149 to take a 13-0 lead. Rider would earn its first points of the match at 157. #4 Jesse Dellavecchia (Great River, NY/East Islip [Binghamton]) claimed a 3-1 decision over Mike Vanschenkbrill.

Wrestling Comes Back To Defeat Lock Haven, 20-17
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Trailing the entire match, the Rider University wrestling team won the final four bouts to take a 20-17 comeback win over MAC foe Lock Haven Friday night at the Thomas Fieldhouse. With the win, the Broncs' seventh-straight, Rider improves to 10-2 (6-1 MAC), while the Bald Eagles are now 7-6 (3-3 MAC). Lock Haven opened the night claiming bonus points at 125, 133 and 141, giving the Bald Eagles a 14-0 lead. Rider would take its first points of the match at 149 and 157. Gino Fluri defeated Lock Haven's Brock Port, 4-3, while #4 Jesse Dellavecchia would claim victory over #29 Alexander Klucker by major decision, 8-0.
