Female Scholar Athlete of the Week: January 27th – 31st, 2020
Central Michigan's Kyra Bussell, Basketball - Forward (Junior, 3.98, Exercise Science)
Junior forward Kyra Bussell has a huge week as the Central Michigan women’s basketball team posted two MAC wins over two of the top teams in the MAC East. Bussell combined for 48 points and 26 rebounds as the Chippewas won at Buffalo, 98-93, and defeated Ohio, 92-90, at home. The wins lifted CMU to 16-4, 9-0 MAC and pushed the Chippewas’ RPI to 17, which is best among MAC school and third-best among all mid-majors. Bussell scored 15 points and grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds in CMU’s double-overtime win at Buffalo; she followed up with a career-high 33-point performance, to go along with nine rebounds, in the overtime win over Ohio. It was CMU’s second victory this season over the Bobcats, the team that was picked to win the MAC East, the overall regular-season title, and the MAC Tournament in the preseason coaches poll.


Male Scholar Athlete of the Week: January 27th – 31st, 2020
Toledo's Luke Knapke, Basketball - Center (Senior, 3.339, Undergraduate Marketing & Management Major/Graduate Recreation & Leisure Studies)
Senior center Luke Knapke registered a pair of double-doubles last week for Toledo, averaging 13.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game to go along with a 40.0 three-point FG% (2-of-5) and a 90.0 free-throw percentage (9-of-10). Knapke tallied 17 points and 10 rebounds against Kent State on Tuesday before leading the team with 11 rebounds and a career-high tying five assists and scoring 10 points at Eastern Michigan on Saturday.
