Akron Notches Seventh-Consecutive Swim & Dive Title

BUFFALO, New York
– The Akron Zips captured their seventh-straight MAC Women’s Swimming and Diving title, becoming the third program to accomplish the feat.

Eastern Michigan’s Alyssa Shugarman started the evening off with a 16:29.88 performance in the 1650 free, earning her second individual title of the meet.
 
Daisy Platts also earned her second crown of the weekend with a 1:54.45 in the 200-yard backstroke, defending her title from a year ago.

Sarah Watson successfully defended her title in the 100-yard freestyle by tapping in 48.91. The sophomore was also named the 2020 MAC Outstanding Swimmer.

After taking the 100-yard breaststroke on Friday, Akron’s Paula Garcia showed up on Saturday with a pool-record time of 2:10.68 to take thee 200-yard breaststroke crown. 
 
Akron’s Paulina Nogaj picked up her second individual title of the weekend with a pool-record time of 1:57.45 in the 200-yard butterfly.
 
Bowling Green’s Talisa Lemke earned her fifth-career MAC title with a 351.36 in the 3-meter dive. The Berlin, Germany native was named the 2020 Most Outstanding Senior and the MAC Diver of the Year. 
 
The 2020 championships concluded with the 400-yard Freestyle Relay. The Zip’s team of Sarah Watson, Morgan Waggoner, Sofia Henell, and Paulina Nogaj clocked in at 3:15.81 to give Akron a clean-sweep of the relay events for the third-straight year.
