BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- Justin Turner scored 19 points, Daeqwon Plowden added 10 with 13 rebounds and Bowling Green beat Akron 78-60 on Tuesday night to take sole possession of first place in the Mid-American Conference standings.
 
Dylan Frye scored 16 points with six assists and Caleb Fields added 13 points for the Falcons (21-7, 12-3), who held the Zips to 1 of 20 from downtown in the first half and led 40-25 at halftime.
 
Loren Cristian Jackson tied his career high with 35 points, including his 1,000th career point, for the Zips (21-7, 11-4), who finished shooting 30% from the field and 5 of 35 from deep (14%). Tyler Cheese added 10 points before fouling out, then got ejected after he bumped into the referee. Channel Banks had six rebounds.
 
The Falcons evened the season series against the Zips with the win. Akron defeated Bowling Green 74-59 on Feb. 11. Bowling Green takes on Miami on the road on Saturday. Akron matches up against Buffalo on the road on Saturday.
 
Northern Illinois 73, Eastern Michigan 71

YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Eugene German hit a career-high seven 3-pointers, including the go-ahead 3 with 8.9 seconds left, and tied his season best with 27 points to help Northern Illinois beat Eastern Michigan 73-71 on Tuesday night.
 
German, NIU's all-time leading scorer, has 2,141 career points and moved past David Kool -- who scored 2,122 for Western Michigan from 2006-10 -- into sixth on the Mid-American Conference's career list.
 
Tyler Cochran and Ziare Mateen scored 15 points apiece for Northern Illinois (17-11, 10-5). Cochran made 7 of 11 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds and Mateen made a career-best five 3s.
 
Trendon Hankerson hit a 3-pointer to trim NIU's deficit to 71-70 with 17 seconds left and Darius Beane blocked Ty Groce's layup attempt on the other end. Hankerson grabbed the rebound, dribbled to half court and hit German for the winner from NBA range.
 
Eastern Michigan jumped to a 22-5 lead about nine minutes into the game and, although German hit a 3-pointer that made it 37-all at halftime, the Eagles never trailed until the closing seconds.
 
Thomas Binelli hit six 3s and finished with 26 -- both career highs -- for EMU (15-13, 5-10). Boubacar Toure had his 11th double-double of the season, finishing with 11 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.

Ohio 80, Buffalo 69

ATHENS, Ohio --  Ben Roderick scored a career-high 21 points. making six 3-pointers, and Ohio topped Buffalo 80-69 on Tuesday night, snapping the Bulls' four-game win streak.

Roderick was 6-for-8 shooting from beyond the arc, Jason Preston added 19 points with 10 rebounds for Ohio (14-14, 6-9 Mid-American Conference), which earned a fourth straight home victory. Ben Vander Plas added 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Jordan Dartis had 12 points.

The Bobcats opened the game on an 18-0 run, featuring three straight 3s by Roderick and a 3 and a dunk from Vander Plas. The Bobcats maintained a double-digit lead for much of the game. Buffalo was outrebounded (39-36) for the first time since the MAC opener Jan. 4.

Jayvon Graves had 16 points and seven rebounds for the Bulls (18-10, 9-6), Antwain Johnson added 15 points. Josh Mballa had 13 points and seven rebounds.

Graves became the 21st Buffalo player to surpass 1,000 career points, finishing with 1,013.

Jeenathan Williams, the Bulls' second-leading scorer (17 ppg), scored three on 1-for-6 shooting in 14 minutes.

Ohio faces Kent State at home on Friday. Buffalo plays Akron at home on Saturday.
 
Kent State 74, Miami 61

KENT, Ohio -- Antonio Williams scored 17 points with five rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals and Kent State defeated Miami (74-61 on Tuesday night.
 
Danny Pippen added 16 points on 5-for-6 shooting, Anthony Roberts scored 13 points with five assists and Phillip Whittington contributed 12 points on 6-for-7 shooting for Kent State (18-10, 8-7 Mid-American Conference), which halted a two-game losing streak.
 
Isaiah Coleman-Lands scored 12 points, hitting four 3-pointers, for Miami (10-17, 3-11) while six other RedHawks scored between six and nine points each.
 
The Golden Flashes outscored Miami 42-12 in the paint and held the RedHawks to just three second-chance points. Kent State, the MAC leader in field-goal percentage, shot 55% in the first half, leading 38-31 at the break, and upped the average to 60% shooting in the second half.
 
Miami’s Nike Sibande posted a double-double on Saturday after illness made him miss the first game of his career, but on Monday Kent State held the 6-foot-4 junior to eight points and one rebound. Junior forward Dalonte Brown missed a second straight game to injury.
 
Miami plays a makeup game against visiting Central Michigan on Thursday followed by its regularly scheduled home game against Bowling Green Saturday. Kent State faces Ohio on the road on Friday.
 
Toledo 93, Central Michigan 81

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Marreon Jackson made 7 of 9 3-pointers and scored a career-high 37 points and Toledo beat Central Michigan 93-81 on Tuesday night.
 
Spencer Littleson scored 18 points and Luke Knapke added 15 with five assists and three blocks for the Rockets (14-14, 6-9 Mid-American Conference), who shot 57% from the field (31 of 54) and outrebounded the Chippewas 32-23. Willie Jackson scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
 
Toledo split of its season series against the Chippewas after dropping a 74-67 home decision to CMU on Jan. 14.
 
David DiLeo made 5 of 6 3-pointers and he and Rob Montgomery scored 19 points each for Central Michigan (13-14, 6-8), which has lost six straight. Devontae Lane scored 18 with five assists, Dallas Morgan added 11 points and Kevin McKay had 10 with two steals.
 
Toledo faces Ball St. at home on Saturday. Central Michigan plays Miami (Ohio) on the road on Thursday.
 
Ball State 71, Western Michigan 61

Tahjai Teague had 13 points and 13 rebounds for Ball State (16-12, 9-6 Mid-American Conference).
 
Luke Toliver had 12 points for the Broncos (11-17, 4-11), whose losing streak stretched to five games. Brandon Johnson added 12 points and seven rebounds.
 
Michael Flowers, the Broncos' leading scorer heading into the contest at 17 points per game, finished with a season-low two points on 1-of-5 shooting.
 
The Cardinals evened the season series against the Broncos with the win. Western Michigan defeated Ball St. 68-64 on Feb. 8. Ball State plays Toledo on the road on Saturday. Western Michigan plays Northern Illinois at home on Saturday.
