AKRON
With just three weeks remaining in the 2019-20 women's basketball regular-season, the Akron Zips begin the final month of play heading to Buffalo, N.Y. for a MAC East showdown against Buffalo on Wednesday, Feb. 19. Courtesy of a big first half lead and lockdown defense in the fourth quarter by the Zips, the Akron women's basketball team defeated Eastern Michigan, 64-53, to complete the regular-season series sweep of the Eagles that was highlighted by senior Haliegh Reinoehl (Westfield, Ind.) scoring her 1,000-career point on Saturday afternoon inside the Convocation Center.
BALL STATE
Ball State and Northern Illinois will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. for its first match-up this season in Worthen Arena. The Cardinals are looking to remain undefeated at home, currently owning a 6-0 mark against league opponents this season. The Cardinals return home after two road games last week, winning at Toledo (60-58) and on the road at Buffalo (69-58). Sophomore forward Thelma Dis Agustsdottir registered a career high 26-point performance against the Bulls last Saturday after shooting a staggering 76 percent (10-13) from the field and 85 percent (6-7) from behind the arc.
BOWLING GREEN
The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team concludes Mid-American Conference cross-divisional play on Wednesday evening (Feb. 19), heading to Kalamazoo to face Western Michigan University. The Falcons are coming off of a narrow loss to league-leading Central Michigan on Saturday. In six of BGSU's 11 MAC losses, the Falcons have held the lead with under four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
BUFFALO
The University at Buffalo women's basketball team concludes its homestand against the Akron Zips at 7pm on Wednesday. Buffalo has held nine opponents to 59 points or less this season, going a perfect 9-0 in those games. Dyaisha Fair is currently fifth in the nation in scoring at 21.2 points per game. She is second in the MAC and ranks 21st in the country in three point field goals made per game (2.86) and is 24th in final points (466).
CENTRAL MICHIGAN
The Central Michigan women's basketball team will attempt to win its 13th consecutive game as it hosts Kent State on Wednesday (7 p.m.) in a Mid-American Conference game at McGuirk Arena. The Chippewas have won 19 of their last 20 games. Micaela Kelly leads the MAC and ranks fourth in the nation in scoring at 22.3 points per game. Kelly also leads the MAC in assists with 4.9 per game.
EASTERN MICHIGAN
The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team nearly erased a 14-point, third-quarter deficit against the University of Akron, but ultimately dropped a 64-53 decision. Redshirt junior Areanna Combs (Oklahoma City, Okla.-Putnam City West (Oklahoma State)) reached the 20-point mark for the third consecutive game and fourth time in her last five outings, scoring a team-high 23 points while adding seven rebounds, a pair of steals, and all four of EMU's assists.
KENT STATE
Kent State prepares for its toughest challenge of the Mid-American Conference women's basketball season as it hits the road to play at first-place Central Michigan on Wednesday night. The Golden Flashes (14-9, 7-5 MAC) scored the most points against a conference opponent in 13 months Saturday at the M.A.C. Center in defeating Toledo, 87-68. Katie Shumate finished with a career-best 24 points.
MIAMI
The Miami University women's basketball team fell 84-70 to the Ohio Bobcats on Saturday afternoon in Millett Hall as the team celebrated in annual Love.Honor.Care game in an effort to raise funds for Luna Cares. Miami was led by Dickerson's 16 points. She was joined by Kenzie Schmitz who scored a career-high 13 points.
NORTHERN ILLINOIS
The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team looks to bounce back from last Saturday's 68-65 loss to Western Michigan when it goes to Ball State for a 6 p.m. CT matchup Wednesday night. The Huskies erased a nine-point fourth quarter deficit to tie the game at 55 with 6:52 remaining in regulation. Courtney Woods (Brisbane, Australia/St. Margaret's) led the Huskies with 18 points and seven rebounds as Myia Starks (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) added a season-high 16 points.
OHIO
The Ohio women's basketball team will continue Mid-American Conference play on Saturday against Toledo. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center. Erica Johnson won the Player of the Week award for the fourth time this season and second-straight week. Ohio has now won the MAC East Division Player of the Week award eight times this season and five-straight times. In Ohio's only game of the week - an 84-70 win over Miami - Johnson flirted with a triple-double. Johnson posted 23 points on 8-of-20 shooting with four made threes.
TOLEDO
Toledo will play its final Mid-American Conference East Division opponent on Wednesday, Feb. 19, when it travels to frontrunner Ohio. Toledo has tallied a 5-2 (.714) record against cross-division foes so far in 2019-20. The Rockets are coming off an 87-68 road setback against Kent State (14-9, 7-5 MAC) on Saturday. Santucci paced the Rockets with 13 points, five boards and a squad-tying best five assists.
WESTERN MICHIGAN
The Western Michigan women's basketball looks to continue their winning ways with a game against Bowling Green inside University Arena on, Wednesday, February 19. The Broncos collected their second straight win with a 68-65 victory over Northern Illinois on Feb. 15. Breanna Mobley had 18 points and 11 rebounds, good for her 15th double-double of the season.
