 CONWAY, S.C. – The Northern Illinois University softball team split a pair of games in their second day at the Residence Inn Battle at the Beach Saturday.
 
The Huskies (4-5) kicked off day two by winning an exhilarating match-up against Jacksonville State, 16-15, in 10 innings before suffering a 15-2 setback to host Coastal Carolina in five.   
 
In a game that tallied a total of 44 hits between the two teams, including a school record 23 hits for NIU, and took almost four hours to complete, the Huskies came out on top over the Gamecocks when Katie Keller hit a walk-off single to left field that scored Kelly Walinski.  Keller was fantastic in the contest, tallying four hits and scoring three runs.

ARLINGTON, Texas – Kent State held its opponents to five hits on Saturday while splitting a pair of games at the Maverick Classic. The Golden Flashes (6-2) dropped a 3-1 contest to Stephen F. Austin in the morning and then returned to Allan Saxe Field to beat Texas Southern, 1-0.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A pair of dramatic comebacks highlighted the Western Michigan softball team's split on Saturday at day two of the Bruin Challenge inside Rose Park.

The Broncos trailed 6-1 to Northern Kentucky before tying the first game at 6-6 in the fourth inning. WMU ultimately fell 7-6 in eight innings in the opener. The second game had Western Michigan trail 5-1 and 6-2 to host Belmont before a four-run breakout in the top of the seventh led to an 8-6 victory.

Leading the WMU offensive charge on Saturday was Sydney Stefanick, who went three-for-three with two runs scored in the opener and had another hit and run scored in the second tilt. Kaylen Glenfield exploded against Belmont with three hits, three RBI and two runs scored while Cari Padula tallied two hits, two runs batted in and one scored against Belmont.

SPARTANBURG, SC – A seventh inning Bulls rally came up short as the University at Buffalo softball team fell to Maryland Eastern Shore 5-4 on Saturday.

Starting pitcher Alexis Lucyshyn helped her cause in the top of the second as she blasted her first career home run over the wall in left center field to give the Bulls an early 1-0 lead.

Buffalo would add to the lead in the fourth as Olivia Kincanon smacked a triple to right and Jenna Richmond followed with an RBI single up the middle to plate Kincannon and give UB a 2-0 lead.

After being blanked in game one, the Bowling Green softball team exploded for a five-run first inning in Saturday's (Feb. 15) second game of the day, and the Falcons went on to a 7-5 win over Chattanooga. The win was part of day-two action at the Chattanooga Challenge.

In the opener, BG (now 2-2 on the year) was downed by Lipscomb, 6-0.

Senior Madi McCoy had four hits on the day, including three in the second game, and freshman Payton Gottshall picked up the win vs. the Mocs with six innings of two-run, four-hit relief work.

Gottshall threw a total of 10 innings on the day. After striking out 17 batters in a complete-game, one-hit win over Tennessee Tech on Friday, Gottshall worked the first four innings of Saturday's opener vs. Lipscomb. She allowed two runs and three hits against the Bisons, walking three and striking out five.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Ohio softball team (1-8) returned to action today (Feb. 15) at the 2020 Chattanooga Challenge. The Bobcats split today's action, defeating Indiana State (3-4), 10-7, in their first game, before falling to Marshall (3-3), 6-5, in game two.

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Central Michigan softball team continued its season-opening weekend with a pair of losses on Saturday at Legends Way Stadium.
 
The Chippewas fell to UConn, 9-3, and then to Stetson, 8-1.
 
CMU, which fell to the same two teams on Friday in their first two games of the season, found itself in an early deficits in both games on Saturday.
 
The Huskies (7-2) scored five runs in the first inning and added two in the second for a 7-0 lead, and then the Hatters (5-4) built a 5-1 lead over CMU after two innings.
 
"We're giving up too many runs with two outs right now and I really want to see us improve on that," first-year CMU coach McCall Salmon said. "We came out and competed and it was nice to string some hits together, push some runs across the plate. Definitely better; we improved from (Friday)."

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - - Led by three hits apiece from sophomore shortstop Amaia Daniel and senior first baseman Janae Hogg, the Ball State softball team closed Saturday's doubleheader at North Florida with a commanding 10-1 (6) victory at the UNF Softball Complex.
 
In all, the Cardinals (4-5) pounded out a season-high 18 hits to avenge a 7-2 loss to the Ospreys (4-5) in the first game of Saturday's twin bill.

MADEIRA BEACH, Fla.– The Akron softball team's winning ways continued as the Zips split day two of the Madeira Beach Tournament defeating Georgia State, 8-6, but fell to Central Arkansas 7-5 in game one. 

"We are growing every game and I couldn't be happier with the fight this team has shown. They never quit and that's what it takes," said head coach Meaggan Pettipiece.
 
The Zips now stand 3-6 on the season heading into the final game of the Madeira Beach Tournament against Butler. UA increased its season run total to 71 with 13 runs combined on the day.
