KENT, Ohio -- Troy Simons scored a career-high 27 points on 7-of-11 shooting from 3-point range and Kent State used the second half to beat Ohio 87-72 on Saturday.
 
C.J. Williamson scored seven of his 14 points in a 90-second span that was part of a 10-0 Kent State (16-8, 6-5 Mid-American Conference) run. Williamson made two foul shots, hit a 3-pointer and threw down a dunk for a 64-50 lead with 11:26 left. Simons buried a 3 during the run and the Golden Flashes led by double figures the rest of the way.
 
Anthony Roberts added 21 points for Kent State and Antonio Williams had 16 points and seven assists. Kent State made a season-high 17 3-pointers.
 
Jason Preston had 20 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds for the Bobcats (12-13, 4-8). But Preston also committed seven turnovers as Ohio finished with 18 total. Lunden McDay scored 14 points and Sylvester Ogbonda and Ben Vander Plas 12 apiece.
 
Bowling Green 77, Ball State 71

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Justin Turner had a season-high 33 points as Bowling Green defeated Ball St. 77-71 on Saturday.
 
Turner, who was a point shy of his career high, shot 10 of 19 from the field and made 11 of 13 free throws. He added six rebounds and six assists.
 
Michael Laster had 12 points and six rebounds for Bowling Green (19-7, 10-3 Mid-American Conference). Daeqwon Plowden added eight rebounds to go with eight points.
 
Jarron Coleman scored 12 points in a 19-2 run that included eight Bowling Green turnovers and brought Cardinals within 72-69 with 30 seconds remaining. But Turner made five free throws from there to offset a basket by Tahjai Teague.
 
Teague had 21 points, eight rebounds and four blocks for the Cardinals (14-11, 7-5). Coleman added 17 points and nine rebounds. Ishmael El-Amin had 16 points.
 
The Falcons improve to 2-0 against the Cardinals for the season. Bowling Green defeated Ball St. 67-61 on Jan. 28. Bowling Green plays Ohio at home next Saturday. Ball St. faces Buffalo on the road on Tuesday.
 
Eastern Michigan 69, Western Michigan 51

YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Boubacar Toure had 17 points as Eastern Michigan defeated Western Michigan 69-51 on Saturday.
 
Chris James and Noah Morgan added 15 points each and Darion Spottsville scored 10 for the Eagles (14-11, 4-8 Mid-American Conference).
 
Brandon Johnson had 17 points and seven rebounds and Michael Flowers scored 10 points for the Broncos (11-14, 4-8).
 
Eastern Michigan takes on Kent State at home on Tuesday. Western Michigan plays Akron at home on Tuesday.
 
Miami 65, Northern Illinois 60

OXFORD, Ohio -- Isaiah Coleman-Lands had 15 points off the bench to lift Miami (Ohio) to a 65-60 win over Northern Illinois on Saturday.
 
Dae Dae Grant had 11 points for Miami (10-15, 3-9 Mid-American Conference), which ended its four-game losing streak. Elijah McNamara added 10 points. Bam Bowman had 10 points.
 
Eugene German had 21 points for the Huskies (15-11, 8-5). Lacey James added 13 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. Noah McCarty had seven rebounds.
 
The RedHawks leveled the season series against the Huskies with the win. Northern Illinois defeated Miami 70-55 on Feb. 1. Miami takes on Akron on the road next Saturday. Northern Illinois plays Central Michigan at home next Saturday.
