KENT, Ohio- The Kent State men's basketball team (1-0) used balanced scoring in its 90-41 win over Point Park on Wednesday night at the M.A.C. Center.
 
Kent State had 12 different players score and four finish in double-figures. Senior Mike Nuga led the way with 17 points, junior Gabe O'Neal had a career-high 15 points, and senior Danny Pippen and redshirt freshman Jeremiah Hernandez finished with 13.
 
KSU shot 46.8 percent (37-of-79) from the field, while Point Park shot 28.3 percent. The Flashes had 40 bench points and dominated in the paint, 62-12. Kent State won the battle of the boards, 55-28, with senior Justyn Hamilton grabbing a career and game-high 14 boards.
 
The Flashes scored the first six points of the contest and didn't look back. With a 9-0 run and 7-0 run in the first half, Kent State shot 41 percent and had seven players score. The defense limited the Pioneers to just seven field goals and 31.8 percent shooting.
 
Kent State led by as many as 39 early into the second half. The Flashes had an 11-0 fueled by Hernandez and O'Neal that put Kent State ahead, 61-22 with 12:43 left to play. KSU kept attacking offensively and closed the game with a 90-41 victory.
 
The Flashes return to action as they take on No. 15 Virginia on Friday, Dec. 4 on the road. Friday's game will air on the ACC Network and tip off at 6 p.m.

Michigan 84, Ball State 65

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Still a work in progress with three rotation players out, the Ball State men's basketball team dropped an 84-65 game at Michigan Wednesday night. The Cards, now 0-2 on the young season, were led by K.J. Walton with 20 points and seven rebounds.
 
Luke Bumbalough added 13 points and  Ishmael El-Amin chipped in 10 with a team-best four assists. Michigan (3-0) got a game-high 21 points on 8-for-11 shooting from Isaiah Livers.
 
The Cardinals had strong stretches of play in the game, most notably a 19-6 run to close the first half. Ball State was within 40-35 early in the second half.
 
SIU-Edwardsville 73, Northern Illinois 53

DEKALB, Ill. – SIU Edwardsville shot 51 percent (26-of-51) from the field as the Cougars earned a 73-53 road victory over the Northern Illinois University men's basketball team on Wednesday night (Dec. 2) at the NIU Convocation Center. 

SIUE held the Huskies to just 29.6 percent (8-of-27) shooting in the first half to build a 16-point halftime lead on its way to the victory. 

Sophomore Tyler Cochran (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) tied a career-high with 15 points while junior Darius Beane (Carbondale, Ill./Southern Illinois) added 13 points and a team-high six rebounds. 

SIUE (2-2) scored 13 of the first 15 to open the contest as the Cougars took the early lead. A 6-0 run brought NIU (0-2) back within a half-dozen. Beane converted at the rim, Cochran went coast-to-coast for a layup and junior Trendon Hankerson (Novi, Mich./Novi) had a bucket as the SIUE lead was trimmed to 16-10 with just under nine minutes left in the opening half. 

The Cougars answered with the next six as the lead climbed back to a dozen. NIU trimmed the SIUE advantage to nine as Beane made a pair of free throws and junior Zool Kueth (Gallatin, Tenn./Pratt CC) knocked down a short jumper in the lane as the Cougars lead, 27-16, with 4:35 left before the break. 

SIUE scored the final five points of the half, all from the free-throw line, as the Cougars took a 34-18 lead into the half. 

After the intermission, NIU found a better flow offensively, shooting 52 percent (13-of-25) from the field, but was unable to slow the SIUE offense as the Cougars shot 57.7 percent (15-of-26), including 50 percent (5-of-10) from three-point range, in the second stanza. 

Sidney Wilson led the way for SIUE with 22 points, Mike Adewunmi added 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. 

NIU will hit the road for the first time this season on Saturday, December 5, as the Huskies head to Pittsburgh to take on the Panthers. Game time in the Steel City is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT and will be available via ACC Network Extra. 

Flagler 92, Central Michigan 73

The Central Michigan men's basketball team was outscored, 60-22, in the paint on Wednesday in closing its two-game trip to Florida with a 92-73 loss to Flagler at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
 
The Chippewas (0-3), who fell to Florida International, 96-76, on Tuesday, head to Western Illinois on Sunday, Dec. 6 (3:30 p.m.).

Travon Broadway Jr. scored 17 points to lead CMU, while Matt Beachler added 13, and Devontae Lane and Caleb Huffman had 12 apiece. Broadway, a Miami native, scored a career-high 19 points against FIU on Tuesday.
