BOONE, N.C. – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team moved to 2-1 on the young season Monday (Nov. 30) evening with a 78-76 overtime victory against Appalachian State University. The non-conference contest was played at ASU's Holmes Center. The Falcons have now won two-straight games following a season-opening loss to nationally-ranked Michigan.

The Falcons trailed by two points at halftime, but built up a 67-55 lead with 6:31 left in regulation. Appalachian State closed the game on a 14-2 run to knot the score, but BGSU forced a pair of contested three-point attempts from ASU on the final possession of regulation. The defensive stop allowed the Falcons to win the game in the extra session.

The Mountaineers scored first in OT, but a long triple from freshman guard Kaden Metheny gave the Falcons a 72-71 advantage with 3:46 left in overtime. BGSU would lead for the rest of overtime, ultimately getting a step-back three-pointer from junior Caleb Fields with 8.3 seconds left on the clock to push the BGSU lead to four points. Appalachian State would go on to hoist a desperation half-court heave at the buzzer for the win, but it did not drop.

The Falcons were led by fifth-year senior Justin Turner's star performance. The Detroit native finished with 25 points, four steals, three rebounds and three assists. Fields -- along with seniors Trey Diggs and Daeqwon Plowden -- each scored 10 points for the Orange and Brown.
