AKRON: Jeremiah Knight’s 74 yards against Western Michigan (Nov. 4) were a career-high mark and most for the Zips since Brandon Lee rushed for 76 yards against Northern Illinois (Oct. 26, 2019). Knight’s 74 yards were more than the Zips had as a team in all but two games in 2019 (95 vs Kent State and 94 vs NIU), while Teon Dollard’s 67 yards exceeded all but three games.

OHIO: Senior running back De’Montre Tuggle ran the second-half kickoff back for a touchdown after closing out the first half with a rushing touchdown, but Ohio ultimately fell to Central Michigan, 30-27 last Wednesday (Nov. 4) in the 2020 season opener. The Bobcats fell to 10-6 (.625) in season openers and 12-4 (.750) in MAC openers in the Frank Solich era. The loss to the Chippewas snapped a streak of three-straight season-opening victories and nine-straight victories to open conference play.

KSU: Kent State took down the Eastern Michigan, 27-23, in the season opener at Dix Stadium on Wednesday night.Kent State won their fifth consecutive game dating back to the 2019 season. The five-game win streak marks the longest win streak by the Flashes since the magical 2012 season. The Golden Flashes are looking to start the season 2-0 for the first time since 1988.

BGSU: Quintin Morris enters the Kent State game with 1,300 career receiving yards, to go with 107 career receptions. He needs 41 more yards to move into the top 30 in school history... After allowing no sacks at Toledo, Terry Malone’s offensive line has allowed just 14 sacks in 13 games since the start of 2019. BGSU ranked ninth in the country in fewest sacks allowed a year ago.

MIAMI: Miami was 5-0 last season in one-score games and has won eight-straight one-score games dating back to the 2018 campaign. This includes last week’s 38-31 win over Ball State... Both Ryan McWood and Zach Kahn began their careers at Miami as walkons and both played a major role in last week’s win. With under a minute to go, McWood intercepted a pass (his first career INT) and returned it to the Ball State 6-yard line. Three plays later, Kahn scored the game-winning 2-yard touchdown with 10 seconds to play in the contest.

UB: The Bulls are looking to start 2-0 in MAC play for the third time in program history. They started 6-0 in 2018 and 5-0 in 2013... The Bulls didn’t allow a sack against Northern Illinois in the opener and now haven’t allowed a sack in five straight games dating back to last season. UB will be facing a Miami squad that had six sacks against Ball State in the opener... Jaret Patterson is 51 yards shy of becoming the fifth running back in school history to rush for 3,000 career yards. If he does it against Miami, he would be the fastest running back in school history to reach 3,000 yards. Patterson has rushed for 100 yards in seven straight games dating back to last season.

EMU: First-year starting quarterback, junior Preston Hutchinson, looked experienced and confident in his season-opener against Kent State, Nov. 4. He completed 21-of-35 pass attempts and amassed 241 yards through the air, which marks the best aerial performance for an EMU QB in a season-opener since Brogan Roback tossed for 267 yards against Charlotte in 2017. Hutchinson and Roback’s respective numbers are the first and second-best in that category since the turn of the century at EMU.

BSU: The offense picked up where it left off in the season opener at Miami, as Ball State’s 309 yards through the air were the most of any MAC team in week one. Senior WR Justin Hall (124 yards) and grad WR Antwan Davis (110) gave the Cardinals two 100-yard receivers in the same game for the first time since Nov. 8, 2016 versus Eastern Michigan (KeVonn Mabon, 149, and Cywettnie Brown, 105).

CMU: The Maroon and Gold are looking to go to 2-0 in conference action for the first time since 2009. CMU went 8-0 in MAC action that year. The Chippewas defeated Ohio, 30-27, to open the season last week in Kelly/Shorts Stadium. A victory over the Huskies would be CMU’s first 2-0 start to the season since 2017 when the Chippewas opened with wins over Rhode Island and at Kansas.

NIU: The top Veteran’s Day story on the NIU roster is that of Greg DeLuca, a 28-year old former Navy SEAL who played on a pair of NCAA Championship lacrosse teams at Duke in 2010 and 2013, and walked on to the NIU football team in January. DeLuca played two seasons of football at Duke in addition to a successful four-year lacrosse career. A married father of one, he is pursuing a master’s degree in sports psychology at NIU.
