Kent State's Crum Named Walter Camp National Player of the Week

KENT, OHIO - Kent State senior quarterback Dustin Crum was recognized by a pair of award organizations for his efforts in the Wagon Wheel victory on Tuesday night.

Both the Walter Camp Football Foundation and the College Football Performance Awards took notice of the Kent State signal caller, naming Crum the Offensive Player of the Week (Walter Camp) and Honorable Mention Offensive Player of the Week (College Football Performance Awards).

Crum became the first player in Kent State history to throw for three touchdowns and run for two more. It's just the fifth time in program history that a Kent State player accounted for five touchdowns. The Grafton, Ohio native completed his first 17 passes of the game and finished 22-for-25 for 348 yards and three passing touchdowns. He added 104 more yards on the ground and two rushing touchdowns. His 452 total yards are good for third all-time among Golden Flashes. Crum was also the first Kent State player since Julian Edelman in 2008 to have two touchdowns both passing and rushing.

He becomes the first Kent State Player to be recognized by the College Football Performance Awards and just the second Golden Flash to earn the Walter Camp Football Foundation's Offensive Player of the Week. Josh Cribbs earned the honor back in 2004.

The Golden Flashes improved to 3-0 for the first time since 1958 and successfully defended the Wagon Wheel for the first time since 2012. The Golden Flashes next travel to fellow unbeaten Buffalo on Saturday, November 28th. Kickoff is set for noon and will air on CBS Sports Network and The Kent State Radio Network.
