Buffalo:
Bulls Extend Win Streak To Five

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo wrestling team extended its dual win streak to five with a 26-12 victory over SIU-Edwardsville at Alumni Arena on Friday night. The Bulls improved to 7-6 overall and 3-2 in MAC duals.  Derek Spann continued his impressive run, needing only 1:48 to pin Jacob Blaha. Clarion:
Wrestling Sweeps The Field At VMI Quad

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Clarion wrestling team finished their day in Virginia as the sole undefeated team, going 3-0 with victories over conference foe Cleveland State as well as VMI and Cal Baptist at the VMI Quad.  The Golden Eagles (6-3, 3-2 MAC) have won six straight duals, including three straight victories over conference opponents. Clarion racked up bonus win after bonus win on Friday, recording six wins by fall, three technical falls and two major decisions out of 21 total bout victories.  They also excelled in the clutch moments, with the Golden Eagles winning several matches but just a handful of points as well as two overtime decisions.  Full Story...

Cleveland State:
Vikings Post 2-1 Mark At VMI Quad

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Cleveland State University wrestling team posted a pair of victories and came up short against one foe as the Vikings competed in a quad dual Friday inside VMI's Cormack Hall.  CSU dropped its opening dual of the day to Clarion, 25-15. The Vikings responded nicely by claiming wins over California Baptist (29-10) and the host Keydets (30-6).  Redshirt senior Evan Cheek and redshirt freshman Riley Smucker both went 3-0 on the day as the Viking combined for 19 bout wins overall.  Full Story...

George Mason:
Patriots Edge Brown at EagleBank Arena, 19-15

FAIRFAX, Va. -- The Patriots dual with Brown University came down to the final match. Mason (7-3, 2-2 MAC) won six of the ten matches today en route to a 19-15 win against Brown (0-2, 0-0 IVY) in a home match held in EagleBank Arena. After the Patriots dropped decisions at 184 and 197 pounds to open the match, Jake Slinger stopped the run with a major decision, 10-2, over James Valentino at heavyweight. Kent State:
Flashes Battle to Fourth Place Finish at Virginia Duals

HAMPTON, Va.- Kent State finished fourth at the 40th annual Virginia Duals on Saturday, defeating Maryland and losing a tight third-place dual with Fresno State. In the first dual of the day for Kent State, the Golden Flashes went up against the Big-10s Maryland Terrapins. The Terps had knocked off Fresno State to start the Duals but lost to Rider on Saturday afternoon before taking on Kent State.  Full Story...

Flashes Split On Day One At Virginia Duals

HAMPTON, VA- Kent State split their first two matches at the Virginia Duals, falling to No. 22 Virginia, 23-12, in a tightly contested dual and besting the Penn Quakers, 27-12. The Golden Flashes got 2-0 performances from Tim Rooney, Kody Komara, Andrew McNally and Lane Hinkle on Friday.  Full Story...

Missouri:
Tigers Come Up Short At UNI

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – No. 23 Mizzou Wrestling dropped a hard-fought dual, 20-13, at No. 14 Northern Iowa Sunday (Jan. 12). The Tigers jumped out a 10-6 lead following the first five bouts, but with Northern Iowa featuring three top-15 wrestlers in the final five bouts, the Tigers came up just short despite trailing by just three points heading into the final match at heavyweight. Mizzou falls to 6-5 on the season with the loss. Mizzou won three of the dual's first five bouts, highlighted by a huge 3-1 win by Brock Mauller over UNI's No. 7 Max Thomsen. After fending off several late third-period shots from Thomsen, Mauller used a takedown with 20 seconds remaining in the sudden victory period to earn the top-10 win.  Full Story...

No. 23 Mizzou Wrestling Rings in the New Year with Win Over Ohio

COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 23 Mizzou Wrestling extended its MAC winning streak to 17 consecutive duals with a 22-12 win over Ohio Friday night (Jan. 10) at the Hearnes Center. Mizzou won seven of the 10 weight classes over the Bobcats as the Tigers are now 8-0 all-time against the MAC foe, including a perfect 7-0 since moving to the conference. Mizzou is now 6-4 on the season and a perfect 3-0 in MAC competition following the win. Friday's dual started at 165 pounds, and Peyton Mocco needed an exciting third-period to pull off an exciting 4-3 comeback win. He started down in the third, earned an escape and then took Nick Vestal down and rode him out for the last half minute to secure the 4-3 win. Full Story...

Northern Illinois:
Huskies Win Third Straight

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team extended its modest win streak to three when it posted a 23-9 victory at Cal Poly Friday night. The Huskies (7-3, 3-1) won seven of the 10 bouts, scoring a pair of maj. dec. victories on the night. California natives Kenny Moore and McCoy Kent had a solid homecoming with both earning victories in their respective matches.  Full Story...

Ohio:
Bobcats Fall To No. 23 Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Ohio wrestling team (2-5, 0-2 MAC) picked up wins in three weight classes but ultimately fell to No. 21-ranked Missouri (6-4, 3-0 MAC) this evening in a Mid-American Conference dual at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Mo. Sophomore Logan Stanley (Fredericksburg, Ohio) gave the Bobcats an early 6-3 advantage when he pinned redshirt freshman Jeremiah Kent in 3:25 in the 174-pound bout. Full Story...

Old Dominion:
Monarchs Place Fifth After Finishing 2-2 at Virginia Duals

HAMPTON, Va. – The Old Dominion wrestling team (3-7, 1-1 MAC) settled for fifth place at the 40th Annual Virginia Duals after a 2-2 showing at Hampton Coliseum in the two-day event.  After starting day two 0-2, the Monarchs came from behind in their final bout of the event against Maryland to earn the fifth-place finish.  Full Story...

Wrestling Defeats Penn, 18-13, Set to Face No. 22 UVA at Virginia Duals

HAMPTON, Va. – The Old Dominion wrestling team (2-5, 1-1 MAC) earned an 18-13 victory over Penn (0-2, 0-0 EIWA) in its first match of the 40th Annual Virginia Duals on Friday at the Hampton Coliseum.  One of the more important matches of the dual came at 157 pounds, when No. 13 in Intermat's rankings Larry Early took on No. 13 in FloWrestling's rankings Anthony Artalona. Early managed to earn the 9-4 win by decision over the top-15 wrestler to give ODU the its first lead of the dual, 9-7.  Full Story...

Rider:
Wrestling Wins Virginia Duals

HAMPTON, VA – The second-seeded Rider University wrestling team knocked off nationally-ranked No. 17 Virginia and Maryland to earn its first-ever Virginia Duals Championship on Saturday. The Broncs defeated Maryland, 24-8, in the semifinals before taking down the Cavaliers, 20-12, in the championship bout. The Broncs improve to 6-2 on the season with the wins. Jonathan Tropea, Peter Lipari, Jesse Dellavecchia and Dean Sherry each won twice on the day for the Broncs. 

Rider never trailed on the day, jumping out to a 9-0 lead on Maryland. Rider padded the lead with six points and a one-point deduction for a disqualification and postmatch infraction on Maryland after Dellavecchia had earned a 5-4 decision over Jahi Jones to make it 15-2. The Broncs' secured the win with Sherry, Ethan Laird and Ryan Cloud earning decisions to close out the match.  Full Story...

Wrestling Domintates Duke At Virginia Duals

HAMPTON, Va. – The second-seeded Rider University wrestling team earned bonus points in eight of its nine victories to dominate Duke, 47-3, at the Virginia Duals Friday morning. With the win, the Broncs advance to the semifinals, where they'll take on Maryland tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. The Terrapins knocked off third-seeded Fresno State, 22-18. The Broncs started the match with six points in hand with a forfeit at 125, before Richie Koehler and Peter Lipari won the next to bouts by fall at 133 and 141, respectively, to give Rider an 18-0 lead.  Full Story...

SIUE:
Cougars Fall At Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Gage Datlovsky's first major decision of the season set the pace early, but SIUE wrestling fell to Mid-American Conference rival Buffalo 26-13. Buffalo improved to 7-6 overall and 3-2 in the MAC, extending its dual meet winning streak to five matches. The Cougars dropped to 1-7 overall and 0-4 in the MAC. Datlovsky overpowered Jordan Reyes in the opening match at 125 pounds 15-2. SIUE also picked up wins from Tyshawn Williams at 149 pounds, Kevin Gschwendtner at 174 pounds and Colton McKiernan at 285 pounds.  Full Story...
