MAC Gymnastics: Gymnast of the Week
Karlie Franz, Kent State, Freshman
Kent State freshman Karlie Franz led the Golden Flashes to their second-consecutive quad victory. The freshman impressed the judges, winning the all-around competition with a career-high score of 39.200. Franz set career highs on floor (9.850) and bars (9.825) taking home the title on each event. She also recorded a 5th-place finish on beam (9.750) and a 6th-place finish on vault (9.775). Her career performance on floor helped the Flashes post a season-high 49.100 on the event.

MAC Gymnastics: Specialist of the Week
Claudia Goyco, Ball State, Junior
Junior Claudia Goyco placed first among 24 competitors as Ball State won its quad meet on Sunday. Her 9.900 floor routine was a career best. Goyco has registered a 9.800 or better on floor in each of the season’s three meets. Ball State won the meet with a team score of 194.200.

Marissa Nychyk, Ball State, Sophomore
Sophomore Marissa Nychyk had two personal best routines to lead Ball State to a quad meet win. Her 9.900 on vault was a career best and placed first among 24 gymnasts on Sunday. She also tied her best mark with a 9.800 floor routine, which tied for sixth among 24 competitors. Ball State won the meet with a team score of 194.200.

Elena Lawson, Bowling Green, Junior
Junior Elena Lawson competed on three events and helped Bowling Green to a second-place finish at the Ball State Quad Meet. She recorded a 9.600 or better in all three rotations, including a 9.775 on floor. She added a 9.750 on vault and a 9.600 on bars. She recorded Bowling Green’s second-best score on both vault and floor.

Denelle Pedrick, Central Michigan, Senior
Denelle Pedrick had another outstanding performance in the tri-meet at Ohio State, winning the all-around (39.375) and earned the meet Most Valuable Performer Award. The senior took second on beam (9.875) and third on floor (9.825). She leads the MAC and ranks 13th in the nation in the all-around.

Jada Rondeau, Eastern Michigan, Junior
Junior Jada Rondeau scored a season-high 39.175 to claim first-place in the all-around completion against Western Michigan on Friday, Jan. 24. Rondeau scored 9.725 on vault, placing sixth with the season-high score. Her scores of 9.800 and 9.825 were good for second-place on bars and beam, respectively. The junior finished on floor, scoring 9.825 and tying for first.

Tara Kofmehl, Northern Illinois, Sophomore
Sophomore Tara Kofmehl in her first outing as an all-arounder for the Huskies posted a total of 38.550 to take second place in the Huskies’ dual at Illinois State. Kofmehl took first place on two events with a career high score of 9.825 on vault while tying her career high on floor exercise with a 9.900 to win that event. Kofmehl’s 9.900 on floor was the highest single score by a Huskie gymnast so far this season. After performing primarily as an exhibition gymnast on balance beam, she stepped into the line-up and scored a career best 9.750. Kofmehl’s efforts helped the Huskies to their highest team score of the season.

Charlotte Tishkoff, Western Michigan, Junior
Freshman Charlotte Tishkoff helped Western Michigan to a comeback 195.175-194.650 victory at Eastern Michigan inside the Convocation Center on Friday, Jan. 24. The Scottsdale, Ariz., product allowed the Broncos to begin 3-0 in dual competition and 2-0 in the MAC for the first time since 2013.
Tishkoff, who was the only Bronco to compete in the all-around on Friday, finished second with a personal-best overall score of 39.050, the ninth-best mark in the league this season. She claimed a tie for first on the vault with a career-high 9.800, a 0.1 improvement from the season opener against Michigan State. Tishkoff earned sixth-place finishes on the bars (9.750) and floor (9.775) and a tie for seventh on the beam (9.725). Her scores on the beam and bars also marked season bests for the rookie. She edged her previous best on the bars by 0.05 while blasting through her previous high on the beam by 0.075.

Samantha Marion, Bowling Green, Junior
Junior Samantha Marion competed on two events for the Falcons, helping Bowling Green to a second-place finish at the Ball State Quad Meet. Marion had team-best scores on both vault and beam recording a 9.825 on vault and a 9.750 on beam. Those scores were good for a second-place finish on both. Her vault score tied her career-high as well.

Savanna Kotas, Central Michigan, Freshman
Freshman Savanna Kotas competed at Ohio State on bars with a career-best 9.825 to finish seventh.

Junior Cortney Bezold competed on bars against Western Michigan on Friday, Jan. 24. Bezold scored 9.850, placing first in the event.

Kent State junior Nasha Manitkul-Davis had her best meet of the season in Texas, setting a career high on vault (9.850) and earning the individual event title. She also tied for third-place on floor with a score of 9.825. Her performance on floor helped the Flashes post a season-high 49.100 on the event.

Zoie Schroeder, Northern Illinois, Junior
Junior Zoie Schroeder tied her season high and tied for first place in the meet with a 9.825 on balance beam at Illinois State on Friday. Schroeder’s score helped the Huskies to a team total of 48.350 on the event and to a team-high season score overall.

Amanda Gruber, Western Michigan, Freshman
Freshman Amanda Gruber helped Western Michigan to a comeback 195.175-194.650 victory at Eastern Michigan inside the Convocation Center on Friday evening. The Riverside, Ill., product allowed the Broncos to begin 3-0 in dual competition and 2-0 in the MAC for the first time since 2013.
Gruber started her day on the vault with a 9.725 to tie for sixth. Helping ice the comeback victory was Gruber’s personal-best performance on the beam. She tallied a 9.850 to earn the individual title. The performance on the beam is tied for the sixth-highest score in the MAC this season. Gruber, who went fourth on the beam, helped the Broncos’ maintain their lead in the final rotation, outscoring the Eagles, 49.025-48.950.
