Buffalo:
Bulls Drop Close Dual to Kent State, 20-17

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo wrestling team dropped a close dual to Kent State, 20-17, at Alumni Arena on Saturday afternoon. Injuries forced head coach John Stutzman to jostle his lineup a bit, playing into the close loss. The dual started at 165 and Troy Keller wasted little time getting the Bulls on the board. The senior won a 14-2 major decision over Kade Byland to give UB a 4-0 lead. After dropping the 174 bout, Pete Acciardi gave the lead back to the Bulls with a 9-3 decision over Tyler Bates. With the match tied, 3-3, after the second period, Acciardi dominated the third to pull away for the win.  Full Story...

Clarion:
Wrestling Drops Decision to Old Dominion at Home

CLARION, Pa. – Celebrating both their seniors as well as their alumni from the 1970s, the Golden Eagle wrestling team came up short against the Old Dominion Monarchs, dropping a 25-9 decision in Tippin Gymnasium. ODU won seven out of 10 bouts on the night and five of the first six matches. In defeat, Clarion falls to 8-5 overall and 5-3 in MAC action. Brock Zacherl and Greg Bulsak both notched dominant victories. Zacherl won a comfortable 5-2 decision, controlling the match with his defensive skill, while Bulsak turned his opponent twice in a 15-1 win. Max Wohlabaugh was the other victor for the Golden Eagles, using a dominant first period to secure the win.  Full Story...

Wrestling's Streak Snapped at Eight Against Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Clarion wrestling team saw their eight-match win streak snapped on Friday, but the Golden Eagles still managed a number of impressive results despite falling 25-15 to Michigan State on the road.  Clarion (8-4) will return home to host Old Dominion on Sunday, when they will host both their senior day as well as a reunion for the Men of the 70's. The Spartans won six of the 10 bouts on Friday night, including a number of bonus point victories, in taking the 10-point win over the Golden Eagles. Full Story...

Cleveland State:
Vikings Competitive in Setback to Ranked Foe

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Cleveland State University wrestling team provided nationally ranked Missouri with a competitive matchup, but the host Tigers proved too much and claimed a 20-12 victory Saturday evening inside the Hearnes Center. The Vikings split the first four bouts with the hosts, but Missouri was able to use four straight wins, three by decision, to ensure victory.  Nevertheless, there were multiple bright spots for the Vikings on the day as they defeated two conference ranked foes, one of which was nationally ranked.  Full Story...

Vikings Open Road Swing With Win

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- The Cleveland State University wrestling team jumped out to an early lead and won a few key matches down the stretch to claim a 21-14 win over SIU Edwardsville in Mid-American Conference action Friday evening inside First Community Arena at the Vadalabene Center. CSU won the first three bouts to open up a 10-0 lead. However, Cleveland State then found itself up just one point with three bouts left to go, but two Vikings notched wins to seal the deal.  Full Story...

Edinboro:
Vath, Oliver Post Wins vs. Tenth-Ranked Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Edinboro wrestling team took to the mat for the second time in three days, this time facing a Pittsburgh team that came in ranked tenth on the latest NWCA Division I Top 25. The Panthers would hand the Fighting Scots a 28-6 loss, but Edinboro turned in a number of strong showings against a Pitt lineup that featured five nationally-ranked wrestlers. It marked the first meeting between the two former EWL rivals since the 2016-17 season.  Pitt would jump out to a 13-0 lead with three straight wins by bonus points. At 133 lbs., Tye Varndell (13-10), who has faced one outstanding wrestler after another as true freshman, trailed sixth-ranked Micky Phillippi (18-1) 2-0 after one period and 5-0 after two before Phillippi pulled away for the 12-3 major decision.  Full Story...

Oliver, Reynolds, and Spaulding Win Decisions in 24-9 Loss to Old Dominion

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro wrestling team would close its match with Old Dominion on a strong note on Friday night, winning three of the final four matches. The Fighting Scots were unable to overcome a large deficit at the start, however, as the Monarchs son the first six matches on their way to a 24-9 victory in the Mid-American Conference dual. Edinboro is now 9-6 overall and 3-4 in the MAC, while Old Dominion improved to 5-8 and 3-2, respectively.  Full Story...

Kent State:
Flashes Fend off Bulls for Key Dual Victory

BUFFALO, NY- Kent State rallied off victories in five of the first seven matches and the Golden Flashes knocked off the Buffalo Bulls 20-17 on Saturday afternoon. A tech-fall by Andrew McNally and Tim Rooney victory in a battle of top-20 wrestlers to highlighted the six individual victories for the Golden Flashes. Saturday's dual started at 165 and took the early lead. Andrew McNally answered back with his team-leading 26thvictory of the season.  Full Story...

Lock Haven:
Wrestling Falls To Army

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University wrestling team (6-5) got off to another fast start, but it wasn't enough to hold off No. 19 Army West Point, as the visitors secured the non-conference dual win, 26-9, tonight in front of a packed Thomas Fieldhouse crowd. The Bald Eagles got wins from No. 15 Luke Werner (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty), No. 32 DJ Fehlman (Warren, Pa./Warren) and No. 21 Kyle Shoop (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) as they opened with three straight victories at 125, 133 and 141. No. 24 Mizzou Wrestling Claims Share of MAC Title After Defeating Cleveland State

COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 24 Mizzou Wrestling claimed its ninth consecutive conference championship after defeating Cleveland State, 20-12, Saturday afternoon (Jan. 25) in the second of a dual doubleheader at the Hearnes Center. The Tigers are now 10-5 on the season and a perfect 7-0 in MAC competition. At 7-0, Mizzou is the only remaining unbeaten in the conference and has clinched a share of the MAC Championship, its eighth straight since joining the league. Full Story...

No. 24 Mizzou Wrestling Picks Up 20th Consecutive MAC Win After Downing NIU

COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 24 Mizzou Wrestling defeated Northern Illinois in the first dual of a Saturday doubleheader at Hearnes, 32-6, to move within one dual win of clinching its eighth consecutive MAC title and ninth straight conference title. The Tigers picked up pins at 125 and 133 to open the dual and never looked back. Mizzou improves to 9-5 on the season and 6-0 in MAC duals. Mizzou has won 20 consecutive MAC duals. With a win later today vs. Cleveland State, Mizzou will clinch at least a share of the MAC Regular Season Championship.  Full Story...

Northern Illinois:
Huskies Fall at No. 24 Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team's four-match winning streak came to an end with a 32-6 setback at No. 24 Missouri Saturday afternoon.  Anthony Gibson and Max Ihry provided the highlights for the Huskies (8-4, 3-2). NIU fell behind 12-0 after a pair of pins in the first two matches. Gibson put the Huskies on the board when he earned a 3-2 win at 141 over No. 7 Grant Leeth.  Full Story...

Ohio:
Ohio Wrestling Earns Third-Straight MAC Win With Road Victory at SIUE

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- The Ohio wrestling team (5-5, 3-2 MAC) picked up its third-straight Mid-American Conference victory to close out the road portion of its 2019-20 regular season schedule, knocking off SIUE (1-10, 0-7 MAC), 24-9, this afternoon at First Community Arena at the Vadalabene Center. Ohio's win over SIUE concluded a four-match MAC road trip. Four of the Bobcats' five dual meet wins have come away from Athens this season.  The Bobcats took seven of the 10 weight classes from the Cougars, with six of Ohio's victories coming by decision.  Full Story...

Old Dominion:
Wrestling Monarchs Down Clarion, 25-9 in Conference Dual

CLARION, Pa. – The Old Dominion wrestling team (6-8, 4-2 MAC) wrapped up its weekend trip to Pennsylvania with a 25-9 win over Clarion (8-5, 5-3 MAC) on Sunday afternoon. Junior 285-pounder Will Hilliard capped off the Monarch victory with a ranked win, taking down No. 27 Ty Bagoly in a 9-3 win by decision in the final bout of the dual. Hilliard jumped ahead of the ranked Golden Eagle early with a takedown and a four-point near-fall less than 30 seconds into the match, giving him a 6-0 advantage. Full Story...

Wrestling Rolls Past Conference Foe Edinboro, 24-9

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Old Dominion wrestling team (5-8, 3-2 MAC) won the first six bouts of its match against Edinboro (9-6, 3-4 MAC) on Friday night, cruising to a 24-9 road victory over the Fighting Scots.  The Monarchs earned bonus points in three of the first four bouts of the evening, as No. 18 Killian Cardinale, No. 18 Sa'Derian Perry and Kenan Carter each took down their opponent with major decisions. At 125 pounds, Cardinale earned six takedowns in his fight against Lucas Rodriguez to roll to a 15-5 major decision win.  Full Story...

Rider:
Wrestling Cruises to 36-6 Win Over George Mason on Senior Night

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The nationally-ranked No. 25 Rider University wrestling team cruised past MAC foe George Mason, 36-6, Saturday night at Alumni Gym. With the win, the Broncs improve to 9-2 (5-1 MAC), while the Patriots are now 7-5 (2-4 MAC).  Rider had a dominating Senior Night, claiming victory in eight of the 10 matches, including the first seven. The Broncs scored wins at 157, 165, 174, 184, 197, 285 and 125 to open the match. Jesse Dellavecchia opened the match with a 5-3 decision at 157. Gary Dinmore and No. 18 Dean Sherry followed with major decisions by matching 10-2 scores at 165 and 174, respectively, before George Walton won by fall over George Mason's Ali Salem at 2:30.  Full Story...

SIUE:
Cougars Drop 24-9 Decision to Ohio

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Ohio bested SIUE wrestling 24-9 Sunday in First Community Arena at the Vadalabene Center. SIUE, now 1-10 overall and 0-7 in the Mid-American Conference, picked up indidvidual wins from Gage Datlovsky, Tyshawn Williams and Austin Andres. All three won close matches, and SIUE had six more matches that were decided by four points or less.  Full Story...

Cougars Fall To Cleveland State

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Justin Ruffin remained undefeated in Mid-American Conference wrestling Friday, but the SIUE wrestling team dropped a 21-14 decision to rival Cleveland State.  Tyshawn Williams put SIUE on the scoreboard first with a 9-6 win over Gus Sutton at 149 pounds.  Ruffin followed with a 9-0 victory over Nico O'Dor at 157 pounds. In his last four matches, Ruffin has blanked his opponents three times and recorded a first-period pin.  Full Story...
