Central Michigan's Drew Hildebrandt, Wrestling - 125 lbs. (Junior, 3.64, Finance)
CMU junior Drew Hildebrandt pinned both of his opponents in home dual meets with Missouri and SIU-Edwardsville. Hildebrandt, who is ranked 12th nationally by flowrestling.com, pinned Missouri’s Dack Punke in 4:40 on Friday, and then pinned Gage Datlovsky of SIU-Edwardsville in 1:42 on Sunday. Hildebrandt’s wins gave the Chippewas a 6-0 lead in both duals. Hildebrandt, who is ranked No. 1 in his weight class in the MAC, leads the Chippewas with 23 victories (against three losses). He is 7-0 in dual meets and has scored bonus points in 11 of his wins, five of them coming by pin.
Female Scholar Athlete of the Week
NIU's Courtney Woods, Basketball - Forward (Redshirt-Senior, 3.89, Sport Management)
Courtney Woods moved into third place on NIU’s career scoring chart this week, averaging 22.5 points per game as NIU split games against Kent State and Akron. The redshirt-senior opened the week with 25 points, seven rebounds, and three assists Wednesday night against Kent State. On Saturday, Woods led all scorers with 20 points as the Huskies snapped a six-game losing streak with a 70-65 win at Akron. In two games this week, Woods shot 48.5 percent from the field, 50 percent from the three-point line, and was a perfect 7-for-7 at the free throw line. She now has 1,934 career points, putting her 66 points away from becoming NIU’s third 2,000-point scorer.
