Camila Lins de Mello, Miami
Sophomore - Belo Horizonte,Brazil/Izabela Hendrix
Sophomore swimmer Camila Lins de Mello turned in another dominant performance in Miami's 200-100 dual-meet win against conference-foe Bowling Green. Lins de Mello won all three of her individual events in addition to swimming a leg on the winning 400 free relay. She began the day with a win in the 200 free (1:52.31), beating the field by 1.77 seconds. Lins de Mello beat out all competition by 1.34 seconds in the 200 IM (2:05.36). She also won the 100 free (52.41). Lins de Mello posted the fastest split time (52.24) in the 400 free relay win (3:32.56) to end the day. She currently holds the fastest time in the conference in both the 200 free and 200 IM and ranks third in the 100 free. Lins de Mello ranks 43rd in the country in the 200 IM and 60th in the 200 free.
Brittney Beetcher, Buffalo
Junior - Boulder, Colorado/Fairview
Brittney Beetcher surged her way to two-first place finishes in UB’s win over Ohio. In the 500 freestyle, Beetcher finished in a time of 5:00.91. She claimed a season-best time of 10:09.13 in the 1,000 freestyle while narrowly passing Ohio’s Katie Garrity in the last 50 yards to win by .04 seconds.
Emma Fortman, Ohio
Freshman - Madeira, Ohio/Madeira
Freshman Emma Fortman (Madeira, Ohio) of the Ohio swimming & diving team (0-5, 0-3 MAC) won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.33 at a road Mid-American Conference dual meet on Saturday (Jan. 18) at the Alumni Arena Pool and Natatorium in Amherst, N.Y. She also turned in a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking a 52.95, and was a part of Ohio's 'B' 200-yard freestyle relay team that combined for a second-place finish in 1:39.63. The Bobcats fell to the Bulls, 218-81.
Casey Gavigan, Eastern Michigan
Senior - East Setauket, New York/Ward Melville
Gavigan led the Eagles with two wins against conference opponent Akron Saturday, Jan. 18. In addition to her times winning both events, both marks found their place on the program's all-time top-10 list, ranking seventh in each respective event. Gavigan also continued EMU's backstroke success this season, helping EMU go an unbeaten 11-for-11 in 100 and 200 backstroke races so far this season.
Kennedy Lovell, Toledo
R-Freshman - Girard, Illinois
Redshirt-freshman Kennedy Lovell recorded a pair of wins against Ball State Thursday night. Lovell clocked a season-best 5:10.76 in the 500 freestyle for first place, touching the wall nearly three seconds ahead of Ball State’s second-place finisher. Lovell’s 1:56.89 in the 200 freestyle was two seconds faster than second place. Lovell was also a member of both second-place relay finishes for the Rockets. Lovell’s success continued into the next day, as she clocked two season-best times and won one individual event. Lovell’s season-best 4:31.57 in the 400 IM was nearly three seconds faster than Indiana State’s second-place finisher. The Girard, Ill. native also clocked a season-best 1:08.48 in the 100 breaststroke. Lovell was a member of the second-place 200 free relay team.
