AKRON
Akron looks to bounce back against Miami at home and Western Michigan on the road in week 4 of Mid-American Conference action. The Zips are scoring 67.4 points per game while shooting 40-5-percent from the floor. Senior Haliegh Reinoehl continues to lead Akron's offensive attack scoring 14.4 points per game while also leading the Zips in rebounds (7.9 RPG), both rank in the top-10 in MAC statistics. Senior Shaunay Edmonds is eight points away from reaching the 1,000 career point mark while the Zips guard averages 9.4 points per game.
BALL STATE
Tonight's game against Buffalo will mark the 30th time in program history the two schools have met with the Cardinals leading the all-time series, 15-14. Ball State enters tonight's contest on a two-game losing streak after the Cardinals fell on the road last week at Central Michigan (39-66) and on the road against Ohio (71-79). Prior to the losses, Ball State had won seven in a row while opening Mid-American Conference action 3-0.
BOWLING GREEN
The Falcons are coming off of yet another narrow loss. BGSU lost in overtime for the second time in four games, falling by a 79-72 final at Toledo on Saturday (Jan. 18). In each of the last four games, BGSU has led with under four minutes to go. Bowling Green sophomore Kadie Hempfling tied her career high with 19 points, and also had a game-high nine rebounds on Saturday. Hempfling was 9-of-11 from the field vs. the Rockets.
BUFFALO
Buffalo went 2-0 on the week, recording a pair of home wins over Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan. The Bulls are now 7-1 at home this season. Freshman guard Dyaisha Fair is currently fifth in the nation in points per game (23.2) and three point field goals made per game (3.47). As a team, UB ranks 16th in the nation in rebounds per game (43.4).
CENTRAL MICHIGAN
The Central Michigan women's basketball team will put its undefeated MAC record on the line on Wednesday (7 p.m.) when it goes to Eastern Michigan. CMU has won five consecutive games and 12 of its last 13 since an 0-3 start. Kelly leads the MAC and is tied for second in the nation in scoring at 23.9 points per game. She spearheads an offense that is averaging 74.9 points per game, ranking second in the MAC and 32nd in the nation.
EASTERN MICHIGAN
EMU is 3-2 in MAC play and faces the Central Michigan Chippewas Wednesday, Jan. 22. Redshirt junior guard Areanna Combs has been outstanding for the Eagles in the 10 games she has played this season. The Oklahoma City native has scored in double-figures in each contest.
KENT STATE
Asiah Dingle sank a pair of free throws to put Kent State back in the lead with 7.9 to play in Saturday afternoon's 78-75 victory over Miami inside of Millett Hall. Following Saturday’s 78-75 victory at Miami, Kent State has scored the winning points in the final 10 seconds of regulation in three games this season. Winners of three in a row, Kent State will not be in action on Wednesday and then returns to the M.A.C. Center for the final two games of the month.
MIAMI
Miami begins its two-game road trip on Wednesday as the RedHawks visit Akron. Last season, the RedHawks earned a 67-61 road victory before winning by a 66-49 margin in the regular-season finale in Millett Hall. Dickerson leads the offense this season with 15.7 points per game as part of a trio of Miami players averaging double figures.
NORTHERN ILLINOIS
NIU went 1-1 this week with a 70-65 win at Akron on Saturday to snap a six-game losing streak… Redshirt-Senior Courtney Woods averaged 22.5 points per game against Kent State and Akron this week… She had 20 points in the win over the Zips to move into third place all-time at NIU in scoring with 1,934 points… Woods had 25 points on Wednesday night against Kent State… NIU shot a season-high 45.9 percent from the field in its win at Akron on Saturday… The Huskies are shooting 42.3 percent from the field in MAC games.
OHIO
The Ohio women's basketball team heads north to take on Northern Illinois on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT at the NIU Convocation Center. Junior guard Cece Hooks (Dayton, Ohio) averaged 26.5 points per game last week, including a season-high 28 points at Western Michigan. Ohio has the third-best scoring defense in the MAC this season at 64.1 points per game allowed. Ohio's season-best defensive effort was against UIW when OU won, 78-41.
TOLEDO
Quinesha Lockett scored a season-high 20 points to lead Toledo to a 79-72 overtime victory over arch-rival Bowling Green on Saturday in the women's basketball version of the "Battle of I-75" before 4,385 fans in Savage Arena. Toledo claimed its eighth-consecutive triumph against arch-rival Bowling Green on Saturday.
WESTERN MICHIGAN
The Western Michigan women's basketball travels to Bowling Green to take on the Falcons in another Mid-American Conference road matchup. Western Michigan nearly pulled off an upset against 5-0 Central Michigan on Saturday, but were unable to earn the upper hand, falling 70-80. Junior transfer Reilly Jacobson led Western Michigan with a career-high 20-point performance, leading and scoring all points for the Bronco bench.
