Eastern Michigan's Bethany Berger, Swimming and Diving (Junior, 4.0, Exercise Science)
Eastern Michigan junior Bethany Berger won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events for Eastern Michigan Saturday, Jan. 11 at Wayne State. Setting new career-best scores in each event, the Batavia, Ohio native marked 291.22 in 1-meter and 305.85 in 3-meter. Additionally, Berger met the NCAA Qualifying Standard in 3-meter diving and becomes the third Eagle diver to have met the qualifying standards in both 1-meter and 3-meter diving this season.
Male Scholar Athlete of the Week
Kent State's Tim Rooney, Wrestling - 133 lb. (Senior, 3.813, Exercise Science)
Tim Rooney went 4-0 at the Virginia Duals this past weekend. Rooney started the event on Friday with a 3-1 decision against 13th-ranked Louie Hayes from Virginia and then recorded a second-period fall against Penn’s Carmen Ferrante. He added a 5-4 decision against Maryland’s King Sandoval and a 6-2 decision against Fresno State’s Gary Joint on Saturday.
