LOUISVILLE, Ky.- Despite a late fourth quarter surge, the Golden Flashes could not complete the rally from a 4-0 deficit, falling to Louisville, 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon in the Bluegrass State.
Kent State (1-2) got on the board in the fourth with an unassisted goal from Clara Rodriguez Seto in the 48th minute off a rebound from the goalkeeper. The Flashes cut the Cards' lead in half with a goal from Laila Richter in the 49th minute. The goal was set up from a pass in front of the cage from Luisa Knapp.
Richter led the offensive efforts for the Flashes with four shots, three on target. Azure Fernslertallied four saves in the net for Kent State.
Louisville outshot the Flashes 14-7 and had two penalty corners to Kent State's one.
The Flashes return home this weekend with a two-game homestand. Kent State opens with Temple on Friday at 11 a.m., and closes with Maine on Sunday at 11 a.m.
