Sophomore Camila Lins de Mello earned both of Miami's individual event wins as the RedHawks competed against two tough opponents in Michigan and Navy to open the season last weekend. The reining MAC Champion in the 200 free won that event (1:48.46) as well as the 200 IM (2:03.15), beating out all competition by at least 1.5 seconds in each race. Lins de Mello also finished third in the 100 free (50.30) and had the second-fastest split time (50.45) among all athletes in the 400 free relay as a member of Miami's 'A' relay.

Sophomore Jovana Duric led the way for the Rockets, finishing ninth overall at 1:06:00.3 over the 5K course at Lone Star Lake. Her time helped the Rockets' to an average time of 1:07:07.54, and a fourth-place overall finish.
