Toledo Sweeps Women's Soccer Player of the Week Honors


MAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Stephanie Currie, Toledo, Forward  
Freshman, Grand Rapids, Mich.       
Currie became the ninth player in program history to record a hat trick in the Rockets' 4-0 win over Detroit Mercy, and just the second player in the last six years. Currie took control of the game in the 59th minute, grabbing a loose ball at the top of the 18 and burying it into the back of the net to open up the Rockets' scoring floodgates. Currie added another one just 11 minutes later when she took a long shot from outside of the box and put it into the upper 90. The Grand Rapids, Mich. native notched her third goal of the night in the 72nd minute of the game, taking a long shot from the corner of the box. Currie's three goals bring her point total to 13 for the year, recording each game winner in the Rockets' three wins this season.
 
MAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Madison Perrin, Toledo, Goalkeeper           
Junior, Pleasant Lake, Mich.  
Perrin secured her 10th shutout of her career, tying for the fourth-most shutouts in program history. Perrin was able to secure the shutout, making two saves through 90 minutes of action, bringing hr career save total to 201 - fourth-most in program history. Perrin's shutout was also her 21st career-win, she is now just one win away from tying for third-most in program history.

Libby Harper, Akron, Goalkeeper     
Freshman, Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England (Townsend Church of England School)
Freshman goaltender, Libby Harper, turned in the first solo shutout of her young Akron career while picking up her second victory for the Zips. Harper directed the defense en route to the win.
 
Peighton Cook, Ball State, Forward
Senior, Greendale, Ind. (Lawrencburg)        
Cook celebrated her senior day in style, scoring the game winning goal in Ball State's 4-0 win over Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday. Cook's goal occurred in just the sixth minute of the match and was her only shot of the day. Cook had recently been dealing with an injury that kept her out for multiple games, and Friday's match was her first back on the field.
 
Alex DeRuvo, Ball State, Goalkeeper
Sophomore, Canton, Mich. (Salem) 
DeRuvo made the first start of her career Friday against Purdue Fort Wayne and recorded a shutout victory with two saves. DeRuvo went the full 90 minutes in the match and led a dominant defensive unit that only allowed two shots on goal and six total shots. It was just the third appearance for DeRuvo in her young career, but the second match in which she has allowed no goals.
 
Emily Kelly, Buffalo, Goalkeeper
Sophomore, Wilson, NY (Wilson)     
Emily Kelly made a career-high 11 saves on 13 shots on goal in a hard-fought 2-1 overtime loss at Oregon on Sunday night. The sophomore helped hold the high-powered Ducks offense scoreless until the 63rd minute of the game.
 
Lauren DeBeau, Central Michigan, Forward
Freshman, Shelby Township, Mich. (Eisenhower)   
DeBeau came through in the clutch for Central Michigan in its 2-1 road win over SEC foe Kentucky on Sunday. With the game knotted at 1-1 and as the last few seconds ticked off the clock for the first overtime, DeBeau hurriedly put in play a corner kick. As the horn sounded and zeros showed on the clock, DeBeau's perfectly-placed offering sailed into goal, sending the Chippewas to victory and keeping them unbeaten on the season at 3-0-2. The goal was DeBeau's first of the season and first of her collegiate career.
 
Zoie Reed, Central Michigan, Goalkeeper   
Senior, Woodbridge, Conn. (Amity Regional)          
Reed played a key role in Central Michigan's 2-1 overtime road win over SEC foe Kentucky on Sunday. She backstopped a defense that allowed the Wildcats just eight shots and made three saves as part of that strong effort. No stop was bigger than the one she made just under five minutes into overtime, keeping CMU alive and setting the stage for Lauren DeBeau's game-winning corner kick as time expired. Reed has logged every minute in goal for CMU this season, compiling 28 saves and a 0.72 goals against average.
 
Cameron Shedenhelm, Kent State, Forward
Junior, Pickerington, Ohio (Pickerington North)     
Shedenhelm scored two goals in one game this week, in the Golden Flashes only game at Youngstown State. KSU defeated the Penguins 4-2 in its last non-conference game of the season. Shedenhelm scored early in the game in the 11th minute from straight on to give Kent State an early lead. Her second goal came in the 51st minute as she broke free to the right of the goal and received a pass in strike and found the back of the net to put KSU up, 3-0. It was her second two-goal game of her career and the first since 2017 at St. Bonaventure. With the win, Kent State has taken ten straight matches against the Penguins.
