Golfweek National Rankings

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Fresh off its runaway victory at the Golfweek Conference Challenge, the Ball State men’s golf team checks in at No. 20 in the Golfweek national rankings. It’s the highest the Cardinals have reached in the history of the rankings.

The Cardinals are tops among MAC teams and Indiana schools. They are third among non-power five programs, behind only No. 18 Pepperdine and No. 19 UNLV.

The Golfweek rankings came out Thursday for the first time this season. Wake Forest is the nation’s No. 1 team.

Ball State led wire-to-wire en route to a 15-shot victory this week at Cedar Rapids Country Club. The 16-team field featured 10 teams that played in NCAA Regionals last year. BSU’s Joey Ranieri shared runner-up honors at 7 under par after recording only one bogey in 54 holes. Teammate Keegan Bronnenberg tied for sixth.

The Cardinals return to action next week against another loaded national field at SMU’s Trinity Forest Invitational. The action begins Sunday in Dallas.
