Stormo Named Women's Golfer of the Week

MAC WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK

Senior Karoline Stormo helped the Flashes start the season off with a win this weekend with her performance at the Dick McGuire Invitational. Stormo carded a 7-under par 209 score for a second-place finish.  In her opening round, Stormo fired a  bogey-free round of 4-under par 68. She birdied four times in both rounds bringing her day total to a team-high eight birdies. She posted the team's lowest final round with a 68 and fired six birdies. She led the tournament in par-3 and par-5 scoring and finished with 14 birdies

Caroline Klemp, NIU

Huskie newcomer Caroline Klemp was the only golfer to finish under par at the season-opening Redbird Invitational at the par 72 Weibring Golf Club. Klemp's three-under par 69 in the final round was the lowest round shot by any golfer in the 17-team (95 golfers) field, that included five MAC teams. Her final round included three birdies and no bogeys. Klemp was making her NIU debut after transferring from Kansas City.
 
Manon Tounalom, Ball State

Manon Tounalom led Ball State with a tie for third place at the season-opening Redbird Invitational for her third career top-10 finish at the event. The Cardinals' lone senior shared the lead during the final nine holes before finishing two shots back. She matched her career-best 54-hole score of 217, bolstered by a second round of 2-under-par 70. Tounalom led Ball State to a third-place finish as a team and the best showing among the five MAC schools competing. The Cardinals were in contention throughout the entire event and finished just six shots back of tournament champion Xavier, a top-100 program last season.
 
Catherine Loftus, Ohio
Sophomore, Roswell, Ga.
 
Sophomore Catherine Loftus was the low-Bobcat this past week at the 2019 Redbird Invitational, hosted by Illinois State. Loftus opened the weekend with a 77 in round two, but followed that up with her best round of the weekend, a 75, in round two. Loftus wrapped up the tournament on Monday with a 78, giving her a three-round total of 230 (+14).
