Women's Soccer Players of the Week Announced

MAC Co-Offensive Players of the Week
Karly Hellstrom, Kent State, Midfielder       
R-So, Sudbury, Ontario (LaSalle Secondary)
Hellstrom netted the game-winning goal against Syracuse in the Golden Flashes 1-0 win against their Atlantic Coast Conference counterpart. KSU swept the home-and-home series with the Orange after winning 2-1 on the road in overtime last year, and have beaten an ACC opponent in each of the last four seasons. Hellstrom totaled five shots and placed two on target for the week. The Sudbury, Ontario native collected her second goal of the year on a set piece from a throw in and beat the Syracuse defense. Both of Hellstrom's goals this season have come against Power 5 competition, as she scored her first at Colorado to give the Flashes an early lead.
 
Heather McGuire, Ohio, Defender   
Freshman, Hamilton, Ohio    
McGuire helped the Bobcats to a commanding 7-0 victory over Southern Illinois on Sept. 8. Coming off the bench and moving to mid-field for the first time in her career, McGuire scored two goals and registered two assists off the bench. In the 35 minutes McGuire was on the pitch, she also registered three shots with two of them on goal. McGuire assisted on Ohio's first goal of the game in the 38th minute, she then came out and scored back-to-back goals in the 51st and 55th minutes, at the time giving Ohio a 3-0 lead. Her final contribution came on Ohio's fourth goal of the game, while she assisted in the 59th minute.
 
MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Tristin Stuteville, Ball State, GK        
Grad, Kansas City (Platte County)    
Stuteville stayed perfect on the year with another clean sheet in Ball State's first road contest of the season at Omaha. The graduate student faced four shots and saved all four, including a diving save in the final minutes of the match to preserve the victory and shutout. Stuteville is up to a perfect 5-0-0 record on the season with clean sheets in four of five matches. She leads the league in goals allowed, goals against average, shutouts and wins. She has also compiled 19 saves, and leads the MAC with a save percentage of .958.

Nicky Potts, Ball State, MF
Junior, Nuneaton, England    
Potts picked a good time for the first goal of her career as she scored the game winner in Ball State's 1-0 win over Omaha. Potts scored the lone goal of the match to move Ball State to 5-0-0 on the year. The junior from England went far post to beat the keeper with just second remaining in the first half. She also produced one other shot on the match.
 
Chelsee Washington, Bowling Green, Midfielder   
Senior, Carrollton, Texas (Hebron)   
Washington scored with just six seconds remaining in the second overtime to lift the Falcons to a 2-1 win over Dayton Thursday night. The goal was the team’s first ‘Golden Goal’ in just under three years, and it extended the Falcons’ school-record home unbeaten streak to 13 matches. Washington had a three-point night against the Flyers, as she assisted on Kennedy White’s tying goal midway through the second half. Washington’s goal, at the 109:54 mark, was the latest goal in school history. She now has 14 career goals at BGSU, ranking 11th in school history, and with 44 career points, she is just five away from moving into the top 10 at BGSU.
 
Emily Kelly, Buffalo, GK

Kelly made a season-high five saves in Buffalo’s 2-2 draw with Albany on Sunday.  She allowed just two goals on seven shots on net in 182 minutes of action across two games as the Bulls finished 1-1 on the weekend.
 
Adrianna VanCuyck, Buffalo, Forward          
Senior, Walworth, NY (Wayne Central)       
VanCuyck helped lead the Bulls to a 1-1 record on the weekend, scoring a goal and adding an assist in UB’s 3-0 victory over Houston Baptist on Friday night. The senior also tied for the team lead in shots with six on the weekend, four of them on goal.
 
Marle Bringard, Central Michigan, Midfielder        
Senior  Midland, Mich. (Midland)     
Bringard was at the forefront of the Central Michigan attack in its opening weekend home stand, playing a role in three of the four goals scored by the Chippewas, as they went 2-0. On Friday night in a win over Indiana State, Bringard came through in the clutch late, breaking a deadlocked 1-1 game by netting the game winner. In the 84th minute, Bringard made a run through the center of the Sycamore defense, took an entry pass from teammate Maria Kaschalk and slotted a low liner past the ISU goalkeeper to her right. On Sunday, Bringard celebrated Senior Day in style by contributing to both CMU goals in a win over IUPUI. In the 32nd minute, she made a brilliant 1-on-1 run through the Jaguar back line, taking the ball past her mark and into the box. Bringard's pressure forced a defender to take her down, earning a penalty kick. Teammate Devyn Brough converted the opportunity to give CMU a 1-0 lead. With the scored tied 1-1 in the 60th minute, Bringard took the ball to the end line and crossed a perfect pass to the middle, connecting with teammate Alina Miagkova, who banged home the game winner.
 
Faith O'Neill, Kent State, Goalkeeper          
R-So., Coquitlam, British Columbia (Dr. Charles Best Secondary)  
O'Neill registered her second clean sheet of the campaign in a 1-0 win over Syracuse. The Coquitlam, British Columbia native recorded four saves while facing 10 shots in the Golden Flashes fourth victory over an Atlantic Coast Conference team in as many years. KSU swept the home-and-home series with the Orange after winning 2-1 on the road in overtime last year. O'Neill moved into sixth place in program history for shutouts in a career. For the week O'Neill made 11 saves while facing 29 total shots. She tied a career-best with seven saves against Xavier in a 1-0 setback. The only goal she allowed all weekend was to the Musketeers, who are the second-highest scoring team in the BIG EAST.
 
Sydney Malham, Ohio, Goalkeeper 
Junior, Nashville, Tenn. / Franklin Road Academy  
Malham held steady in net for the Bobcats in their 7-0 victory on Sunday against Southern Illinois. In the 79 minutes she was on the pitch, Malham did not allow a goal, while making two saves on the only two shots that she faced.
 
Stephanie Currie, Toledo, Forward  
Freshman, Grand Rapids, Mich. (Forest Hills Central)         
Currie helped Toledo go undefeated this past weekend by scoring the game-winning goal against Oakland and the go-ahead goal against Wright State. The Grand Rapids, Mich. native scored against Oakland in the 89th minute to lift Toledo to a 4-3 victory. On Sunday, she struck again in the 42nd minute to give The Rockets a 2-1 lead going into halftime against Wright State. Currie would later assist Toledo’s third goal in their 4-1 victory Sunday afternoon. Overall for the week Currie produced four shots with three on goal, two goals, and an assist to earn her five points.
 
Sheridan Bufe, Toledo, Centerback  
Senior  Lake Forest, Ill.
Bufe helped the Rockets to a 4-3 victory over Oakland by recording her first career goal and second career assist in Thursday night’s game. She totaled one shot against the Grizz, and it turned out to be the money shot for the experienced senior. Later, against Wright State, Bufe would add another tally in the goal column, putting two shots on goal with one getting by the Raiders’ keeper. Her totals for the weekend include three shots, all on goal, an on goal percentage of .667, two goals, and 180 minutes played.
