BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo used a steady dose of the run game to cruise to a 38-10 season-opening win over Robert Morris at UB Stadium on Thursday night. Of the Bulls 57 plays in the game, 47 were run plays that resulted in 285 yards on the ground.

Redshirt-freshman quarterback Matt Myers looked quite comfortable in his first career start. The first freshman to start at quarterback for the Bulls since 1991, Myers finished 5-for-10 for 69 yards and two touchdowns and added 47 yards and another score on the ground. Myers opened the scoring with a 1-yard rushing touchdown on UB's first possession. He also tossed a pair of touchdown passes to tight end Zac Lefebvre. He hit Lefebvre in stride for a 40-yard touchdown on the final play of the first quarter and later hit Lefebvre on a three-yard strike late in the first half.

Five different UB running backs had carries in the game led by returning Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year Jaret Patterson who finished with 90 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Kevin Marks rushed for 75 yards on 13 carries. Dylan McDuffie added 27 yards on four carries and freshman Ron Cook, Jr. had 24 yards on seven carries and scored his first career touchdown on a 3-yard run.  Full Story...

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Scot Loeffler era began with a dominant 46-3 victory over Morgan State on Thursday night at Doyt L. Perry Stadium on the campus of Bowling Green State University.

The Falcons earned all the points they would need on the opening drive of the 2019 season, as Darius Wade led a 12-play, 76-yard drive that culminated in a two-yard Andrew Clair touchdown run. Bowling Green's total yards on that opening drive eclipsed the Bears' total (70) for the entire game.

Wade finished the game with 253 yards and three touchdown passes, while four different Falcons reached the end zone. The BGSU defense permitted just 24 yards passing and 70 yards overall, and it recorded its first safety in eight years.

Bowling Green begins the season 1-0 for the first time since 2013. The Falcons are now 13-2 all-time in season openers at Doyt Perry Stadium. Loeffler is the first Bowling Green coach to win his first game since Dave Clawson in 2009.  Full Story...

Box Score
MT. PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan opend a 24-7 halftime lead and cruised to a 38-21 win over Albany on Thursday night at Kelly Shorts Stadium. Central Michigan quarterback Quinten Dormady threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns in his Central Michigan debut and the Chippewa offense rolled up 529 total yards on Thursday as CMU downed Albany, 38-21, in the season opener at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

The victory and the Chippewas' performance was important on several fronts, not the least of which is that it came on opening night as CMU attempted to put a one-win 2018 season permanently in the rearview mirror in Jim McElwain's first game as the Chippewa coach. The start of the game was delayed for nearly two hours by lightning, but that did little to slow a Chippewa team eager to return to the field.  Full Story...
